    Most American Jewish families celebrate the ancient festival in one form or another.
    • Many remove all leavening from their homes and eat only matzah for eight days. Reading from the Haggadah (a narration of the Exodus) is a central part of the first and second nights of Passover and usually takes place in the home. The , bitter herbs, represent the bitterness of slavery. The parsley represents the first greens of spring. The salt water represents the tears of the people. The egg represents the rebirth of life. The lamb bone represents the blood smeared above the doors of the Israelites showing the Angel of Death this was a home of Israelites.
