Lightning stuck to plan for Stanley Cup title

For the last 10 years there was no room for the little guys in the Stanley Cup finals. The list of champions was a familiar mix of big-budget and top-talent teams: Detroit (three times), New Jersey (three times), Colorado (twice), Dallas and the New York Rangers.
Florida bolts to Stanley Cup win

Who's laughing now? The Tampa Bay Lightning, the laughingstock of the NHL up until three years ago, a team four years removed from back-to-back 19-win seasons, a team the Florida Panthers used to torment for kicks, will have its name engraved on the Stanley Cup.
Flames' toughness comes from coach

As the Calgary Flames near the end of the mentally wearing, emotionally tugging, physically challenging two-month grind that is the Stanley Cup playoffs, it is no surprise they often seem to be the most in-control team.
Good to its word, Tampa stays alive

The Tampa Bay Lightning were as good as guaranteed. Martin St. Louis, the one-time Calgary reject, knocked in a rebound in the opening seconds of the second overtime and the Lightning forced a decisive Game 7 in the Stanley Cup finals by beating the Calgary Flames 3-2 Saturday night.
Flames close in on Stanley Cup
Thanks to Jarome Iginla's stamina and Oleg Saprykin's second effort, the Calgary Flames are one victory away from a Stanley Cup their coach insists nobody outside of Canada wants them to win.

The National Hockey League All Star Celebrity Challenge On Wednesday night, January 30th, I had the honor and pleasure of playing and participating in The National Hockey League All Star Celebrity Challenge at The Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. It was a charity hockey game to raise money for The Children's Hospital of Los Angeles. Being an ice hockey fan for as far back as I can remember it was a dream come true to be on the same sheet of ice as legends like Phil Esposito, Dave Taylor, Rod Gilbert, Jari Kurri, Pat LaFontane, Ron Dugay and Bernie Nicholls. I started ice skating a little to late in my life to ever consider ice hockey as a career but even as an adult I've dreamed of being a professional hockey player and playing in an NHL game... This was probably as close as I will ever get and it ranks as one of the most memorable nights of my life. Topps Card: Mike V. Center Ice at The Los Angeles Convention Center. I arrived at The Staples Center at 4:00 PM that evening and was escorted to The Bad Boys' (my team for the night, captained by movie producer Jerry Bruckheimer) locker room which is also The Los Angeles Kings' locker room. My All Star jersey with my name sewn across the back was hanging there waiting for me and it was then that I met most of my teammates for the night, from Cuba Gooding Jr. to Chris Jerhico to Alex Trebek. I got dressed in my hockey apparel and then I was shuttled over to The Los Angeles Convention Center where they had put down some ice for us to skate on with some local youngsters and to meet and greet some fans. I had a lot of fun participating in the short clinic with the kids even though most of them were better players than me. From there we were shuttled back to The Staples Center for the actual game.

Fortunately for us RDA fans, that did not work out, and upon graduating high school, he attended St. Cloud College and Ohio University, to study drama. Anderson got his first big break in 1976, when he got the role of Dr. Jeff Webber on General Hospital. In 1985 came his most memorable character to date, MacGyver. MacGyver went on for seven seasons, before it came to an end in 1992. Shortly after Anderson signed on to another show entitled Legend. Unfortunately it only lasted one season, and was gone. At present Anderson is playing Colonel Jack O'Neill in the Stargate SG-1 series. The October Female Student Athlete-of-the-Month, fourth year Emily White , has displayed a strong work ethic in her academic and athletic endeavors. A Health and PE major in the Curry School of Education, from Finksburg, Md, Emily balances a full academic course load with a rigorous field hockey schedule. Q: What brought you to UVa? A: A combination of the hockey program and the fact that UVa is on of the top schools in the nation. I loved the players and coaches. Being part of the team meant being part of a family, and that was very important to me. When I was being recruited, the team was very competitive and had worked hard to build something successful. I wanted to be a part of that. Also, the goalie coach that I had worked with throughout high school was here, and he was a very strong factor in my decision. At the same time though, UVa also had a very strong academics program and the combination of the two was unbeatable. I just love the over-all atmosphere here.
