TCM Hospital: Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SlE) And Traditional Chinese Medicine In China
The cause of SLE is unknown, but most of scholars hold the view that it may be related to autoimmunity and genetic factors. Many organs and connective tissues of the body may be involved. The disease is often accompanied with many serological and immunological changes. It is seen more often in young females. In TCM the disease is categorized as "xu lao" (consumptive diseases), "shui zhong" (edema), "bi zheng" (arthralgia-syndrome) "wen du fa ban" (epidemic disease with eruptions), etc. Main Points of Diagnosis 1.The onset of disease is slow, early symptoms include fatigue, anorexia, emaciation, arthralgia, low fever, skin rash, photosensitization, etc. The initial symptoms are usually atypical, and diagnosis is difficult. 2. Functional damages of multiple organs: As the disease progresses, there appear functional damages of the liver, kidney, cardiovascular, digestive and nervous systems. Cardiovascular and renal damages are predominant features and renal failure is the major cause of death. 3. Accessory examinations

Herbs For Food and Medicine
An Introduction

by
Susan Callaway, RN One of my pet phrases goes something like this: "If it isn't broken, don't fix it." I think of that each time I read some medical "expert" yammer on about how herbs and supplements have not been through all of the hoops set out by the FDA and other government busybodies who want to tell us how to live our lives. If 5,000 years or more of use and recorded effects are not equal or better than the typical "clinical study" used for new chemical medications, I don't know what is. The new chemical compounds most certainly do need these and other studies to determine safety and effectiveness, but something that has been in constant use for thousands of years on almost every continent in the world would seem to have already passed the test with flying colors. Understanding the situation
One of the things that the medical establishment people never mention is that there is no The other side of the coin, however, is that herbal medications are medicines and are not automatically "safe" or effective. I'd like a nickle for each time I've heard patients tell me that they take some herb and don't worry about it because it is "natural"! Well, my friends, a great many "natural" things are very dangerous. Strychnine, for example, is a "natural" substance from the seeds of some plants and is a deadly poison. I strongly suggest that you

Most people are aware that acupuncture is an excellent remedy for many types of pain. However, acupuncture can also reduce stress, help with weight loss and smoking withdrawal, and alleviate cold and flu symptoms. Alone or as an adjunct to Western medicine, acupuncture provides a highly effective treatment for many common complaints, and may provide additional relief for problems that do not respond completely to Western medical treatment. If you suffer from lower back pain, arthritis, PMS or painful cramps, headaches, allergies, or any of a host of medical conditions, acupuncture can help.
We offer 10-15 minutes of consulting free of charge. If you have any questions about your specific health problems or questions about acupuncture general, feel free to contact us.
