TCM Hospital: Urinary Calculus And Traditional Chinese Medicine In China
Urinary calculus is a common disease in the urinary system, including calculus of the kidneys, urethral calculus, vesical calculus and urethral calculus. This disease incidence appears obviously in certain areas. The disease belongs to the categories of "sha lin" (strangury form urolithiasis), "shi lin" (strangury caused by urinary calculus) and "xue lin" (strangury complicated by hematuria) in TCM. Main Points of Diagnosis 1.Symptoms 1) Calculus of the Kidneys: There is a dull pain in the lower loins of the affected side, when the stones in the kidney radiates along the ureter to the lower abdomen and the perineal region which is associated with different degrees of hematuria. If the case turns into a complicated infection, the patient may have fever and pus cells in the urine. 2) Ureteral Calculus: In the lumbar region there is an acute pain which is often associated with hematuria. When the stones happen to be in the upper 1/3 part of the ureter, the pain will be in the costovertebral angle region and radiate to the part above iliac crest and external side of the abdomen. When the stones descend, the region of pain will also come down with the pain radiating to the thigh, testicle or vulva region.

Natural Medicine in the Modern Age

By Johnathon Allen For centuries before the emergence of modern medicine, children were born at home into the hands of midwives and the mothers were assisted throughout pregnancy with widely available herbs and homeopathic remedies. Though modern medicine has gone on to supplant nearly every natural remedy on earth with a synthetic substitute, the herbal tinctures and formulas traditionally used for pregnancy are still an effective way for mothers to deal with the discomfort and nutritional issues encountered during pregnancy. "Traditional midwives have worked with herbs for centuries and their accumulated wisdom has been passed down through the ages," says Sudi Storm, a traditional midwife and herbalist from Ashland, Ore. "Today, we know more than ever before about what herbs and homeopathics work for different situations. Ironically, herbs are often better, cheaper and healthier than their modern medicinal counterparts." According to Storm, there are a number of conditions a mother is likely to experience throughout her pregnancy that can be alleviated with the use of herbal supplements and a focused diet. For example, when a doctor might suggest a mother with heartburn use antacid tablets, an herbalist is likely to suggest a more natural approach.

Describes in detail how practitioners in China solve this disorder with TCM strategies and herbs.
    http://www.tcmtreatment.com/images/diseases/scleroderma.htm
TCM Hospital: Scleroderma And Traditional Chinese Medicine In China
Scleroderma is a kind of skin disease of connective tissue caused by sclerosis of the skin. It is divided into two types: localized and systemic types. Generally, it undergoes through three stages, red swelling, sclerosis and atrophy. At the advanced stage, the affected skin will be adhered to the deep tissue and produce functional disturbance of corresponding organs. This disease is called (scleroderma). Main Points of Diagnosis Localized Scleroderma 1. Skin Lesion: Part of the skin has a sensation of burning heat and itching, then slightly elevated patches in red or purple color. The lesion may be tenioid or elliptical in shape, and its border is clear with purple halos around them. The central part is sunken and then the color of patches will become yellow, brown and pale. The skin will be indurated and adhesive to the subcutaneous tissue, then the cleavage lines will disappear. Its surface is smooth and then will become atrophied and thin, and will lose elasticity. There are branny desquamations and pigmentations on the skin lesion. 2. Symptoms and Signs: At first the patient may have an unusual feeling or a sense of itch, then the skin becomes blunt and insensitive.
