  • Given the popularity that herbal remedies now enjoy with humans, there is aslo a corresponding upsurge in the use of herbs for your favorite four-legged pals. Herewith are a few time-tested methods to keep your dogs and cats happy and healthy: Make an herbal flea powder Combine one part each of as many of these powdered herbs as you can find: eucalyptus, fennel, rosemary Rue, wormwood, and yellow dock. Put this mixture in a standard shaker-top jar (such as a jar used for parsley flakes). Apply the flea powder sparingly to your pet's coat by brushing backward with your hand or a comb, and sprinkling it onto the base ofthe hairs, especially on the neck, back, and belly. If infestation is severe, use several times a week. After each treatment, put your pet outside for awhile so that the disgruntled tenants vacate your pets fur in the backyard (and not in your house). Use an herbal flea collar These collars are impregnated with insect-repellent herbal oils. Some are designed to be "re-charged" with the oils, and can be used repeatedly. Others are designed for a specific usage period before replacement. You can buy these types of products at local health food stores.

TCM Hospital: Dysmenorrhea And Traditional Chinese Medicine In China
Dysmenorrhea (painful menstruation) means that women have periodic pain during or prior to or after menstrual period in the lower abdomen or even faint in severe cases. It has been customary to classify cases of dysmenorrhea into two main groups: primary or functional dysmenorrhea referring to the one which is not caused by organic diseases, and secondary dysmenorrhea referring to the one caused by organic diseases in reproductive system. Main Points of Diagnosis 1. The pain in the lower abdomen appears with menstrual cycle. 2. The pain can spread over the whole abdomen, lumbosacral region or there is dragging pain in the vulva and anus. It varies in degrees and can be relieved when the menstrual blood flows smoothly. 3. Gynecological examination: Those without organic diseases in the pelvic cavity are primary dysmenorrhea; those with organic diseases in the pelvic cavity are secondary dysmenorrhea.

Traditional Chinese Medicine Herbs Herbs used in Traditional Chinese Medicine include the following: American ginseng Asian ginseng Astragalus Bitter melon ... Sweet Annie The theory and techniques of Oriental Medicine (OM) have been developed and refined for more than 2,000 years. Having originated in China, OM gradually spread throughout Asia and eventually into Europe and the United States. In China, OM developed over millennia as many separate lineages and schools of thought, with different ideas about how it works and varying approaches on how to use it. In the 1940s the Chinese government brought together experts from the various schools and synthesized all of the different ideas and practices into a single system that could be transformed into a network of colleges and hospitals to train practitioners and treat the public. They called this system Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Even with this great synthesis of ideas in China, there are still many different schools of thought within contemporary OM in China and other countries. TCM remains the foundation and center of OM; it is the system that is taught at most OM colleges and is used by most practitioners throughout the world. In the United States today, there are over 12,000 licensed practitioners and 40 colleges of OM, with licensure available in 37 states and Washington, D.C. TCM is a complete medical system for diagnosis and treatment. The individual is seen as an integrated whole. Every part, process, thought, and emotion within the individual is considered in terms of its contribution to the healthy functioning of the whole person. Each disease and disorder is not seen as an isolated event but as an outward manifestation of the whole person being out of balance.

Describes in detail how TCM practitioners in China solve pepticulcer with traditional Chinese strategies and herbs.
http://www.tcmtreatment.com/images/diseases/peptic-ulcer.htm
TCM Hospital: Peptic Ulcer And Traditional Chinese Medicine In China
Peptic ulcer occurs most frequently in the stomach and duodenum. Its etiology, in spite of a variety of theories about it, has not been well understood. Gastric ulcer occurs predominantly in the lesser curvatuse and pyloric part. Duodenal ulcer mostly occurs in the duodenal bulb. The coexistence of gastric and duodenal ulcers is called complex ulcer. Peptic ulcers are more frequently found in males than females, and inclined to attack the young and middle-aged groups, but gastric ulcer usually occurs later than duodenal ulcer. The disease, in TCM, is categorized as "weiwan tong" (stomachache), "outu" (vomiting), etc. Main Points of Diagnosis 1. Symptoms: Cardinal symptom of the disease is chronic epigastralgia which is marked by dull pain or pinching pain. Sometimes it is manifested as distending pain or burning pain which often radiates to the lumbar region or the back. The pains are closely related to meals. The rule of attack in gastric ulcer is food intake¡úpain¡úremission, while in duodenal ulcer the rule is pain¡úfood intake¡úremission. The pain occurs periodically and is often induced by coldness, fatigue and improper food intake. The attack is frequently in winter and spring. Other symptoms include acid regurgitation, belching, nausea and vomiting. In a few cases, perforation or bleeding may be the first clinical findings.

Overview and History
Chinese Medicine
Visiting a Chinese pharmacy in the Republic of China is much like
being inside a miniature museum of natural science. Tucked away in row after row of tidy drawers are animal, plant, and mineral products, each with a particular purpose. Among the assortment of curiosities are cinnabar and amber, to relax the nerves; peach pits and safflower, to improve blood circulation; bearþs gall to relieve pain and tranquilize; Chinese ephedra (mahuang) to induce perspiration; and ginseng to strengthen cardiac function.
An Introduction to Chinese Herbal Medicine
What are Chinese herbs? In China, herbs are called herbal medicine, which is made up of roots, bark, flowers, seeds, fruits, leaves, and branches. Herbal medicine has been a part of the written history of Traditional Chinese Medicine for over 4000 years. There are over 3000 different herbs that can be used for medical purposes. Only 300 to 500 of these herbs are commonly used. It is important to use herbs grown in China rather than outside of their native environment. One must use the right herb from the right resource to get the full benefit.
