What are "Tax Lien Certificates"? Another method of either acquiring the properties or receiving a very high rate of return on your investment is by investing in Tax Lien Certificates. Many taxing jurisdictions use an alternative method of collecting delinquent real property taxes. That method involves the selling of "tax lien certificates" sometimes referred to as TLC's. Tax lien certificates become a first lien on the property. These tax lien certificates can yield very high rates of return on your investment when the property is redeemed. In many cases these yields can be 20% per annum or even more. In the event the delinquent property owner does not redeem within the time (can be six months to as much as 5 years depending on the jurisdiction), the holder of the tax lien certificate can obtain title to the property. The following is a partial listing of states that offer you the opportunity to invest in government issued guaranteed tax lien certificates and the current rate of interest or penalty.

DEA: Drug Money Funds Terror Group Posted by CN Staff on September 01, 2002 at 21:03:21 PT
By John Solomon, Associated Press Writer

Source: Associated Press
Federal authorities have amassed evidence for the first time that an illegal drug operation in the United States was funneling proceeds to Middle East terrorist groups like Hezbollah. Evidence gathered by the Drug Enforcement Administration since a series of raids in January indicates that a methamphetamine drug operation in the Midwest involving men of Middle Eastern descent has been shipping money back to terrorist groups, officials said.
"There is increasing intelligence information from the investigation that for the first time alleged drug sales in the United States are going in part to support terrorist organizations in the Middle East," DEA administrator Asa Hutchinson said Friday. DEA officials said the men, most of whom were indicted on drug charges after their January arrests, were smuggling large quantities of the chemical pseudoephedrine from Canada into the Midwest. Officials said the smuggling went through two primary Midwest locations, Chicago and Detroit, and involved several men with ties to Jordan, Yemen, Lebanon and other Middle East countries. There is no evidence that any of the money was connected to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, officials said.

Who's Who of the Haight-Ashbury Era
This is a list of short (thumbnail size) biographies of people who were somehow involved with the events of the Haight-Ashbury era, 1965-1967. As it stands, this list is somewhat incomplete and I hope that some of you can help me fill in the gaps or provide information about people who should be on the list but got overlooked. Eventually, I would like to include an in-line image of each person's astrological sign by their names to make it more Hippie-like, but I can't do that until I come up with more birth dates. An important note about the birthdates: many people wrongly refer to the counterculture as the so-called baby boom generation. Almost all the birthdates on this list tell a different story. The baby boomers were actually the teen-agers who flocked to the Haight-Ashbury when the Summer of Love happened, much to the Diggers' disgust. In this version of Figaro the principal change is the use of a new data access library (FDA), but this made minor modifications to several applications necessary. The old libaries DSA and DTA are kept as part of the release, but are unused by Figaro itself. With the new data access library, the principal data format is NDF. On the other hand, a number of foreign file formats can be used in addition to NDF itself. The old Figaro DST format is one such foreign format, others include FITS, IRAF, and GIF. In order to use any foreign format, you must start up CONVERT in addition to Figaro. From the Unix shell: % figaro % convert and from ICL: The data format is selected by the user on a per-file basis by specifying a file name extension: will try all known formats in order of priority, to choose a format explicitly:

The following evidence was given to the Reece Congressional Committee in the 1950s which was investigating the involvement by the (Illuminati) Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in the manipulation of America into the First World War. Norman Dodd, the committee's Director of Research, reported that at one meeting of the Carnegie trustees, the question was asked:
"Is there any means known to man more effective than war if you want to alter the lives of an entire people? It was decided there was not and so the next question they asked was: How do we involve the United States in a war?"

My First Two Weeks
by Jason Raad

The first Weeks The first week of this class was for me confusing. While I have had a little experience on computters, nothing came close to what I was about to experiece. The instructions seemed clear, however. upon my arrival at the clic lab I soon knew that This task was going to require a lot of hard work and effort. While I made the best attempts possible in class to prepare myself with good notes and general comprehension of the materal, I soon felt myself in a state of panic when things did'nt work out as I thought they should.
Give it a wirl My first attempt was by all means a tragidy. It was atthis point that I felt that this class was going to be a nightmare. And at this point,I still feel like this a majority of the tine. These are all typical of people who are new to information. My first few hours on the computer were just getting to know how the system worked. I've never worked on this type of computer and was almost completly lost. I thought this might be the case after the first class was over and I was so information shocked that I thought about dropping the class. As that first week went by I did feel a little better about working on the internet and was more confortable with the computer. Then the next class rolled around and a new set of problems faced me, was this going anxiety going to last the duration of this class?

Abstract Community memory can provide the crucial bridge between large-scale digital libraries and the day-to-day activities of a community's members. Just as a digital library is based on a general structure and conventional means of access to diverse collections of materials, a community memory culls and shapes the structure of this collection to meet more particular needs; it provides a unique perspective on a larger, more general collection. Useful and usable community memories require support for: (1) the acquisition and evolution of content and structure; (2) the maintenance of mutually intelligible organizations; and (3) the identification of relevant materials. In this paper, we explore issues related to these three requirements based on our experiences with the development and use of shared hypermedia information resources. Keywords : Community memory, hypermedia, digital libraries, collaboration, shared understanding.
