Dynamic Flight is one of Australia's oldest and most respected hang gliding schools. In the past three years we have taught more students to fly than any other school in the country. We offer a complete range of services catering to all levels of pilot proficiency. As part of our expansion The Dynamic Flight Park is currently being developed as a full service hang gliding / ultra-light training and recreational flight facility. Located less than one and a half hours northwest of Melbourne beside the Western Highway our flight park at Trawalla encompasses over 600 acres of training hills, tow strips and support facilities. This site offers excellent thermaling conditions and is a great location to contact sea breeze convergence in the summer. If you're tired of chasing the wind and are looking for pure and simple airtime then look no further. We provide both ground and aerotow options catering to any wind direction. If you're not quite ready to give up on foot launches, you can choose from over a dozen hill and mountain sites all within 45 minutes of the Park. Come for an afternoon, stay as long as you like, and discover the freedom. Trouble navigating?

Gliding
Gliding is a recreational activity and competitive sport where individuals fly un-powered aeroplanes usually called gliders or sailplanes. Properly, however, "gliding" is the term used for a descending flight of any heavier-than-air craft, when its own weight is its sole motive force. When the craft gains altitude or speed from the atmosphere during the flight, the correct term is "soaring". Table of contents 1 Recreation or sport?

Recreation or sport?
While recreational glider enthusiasts enjoy the freedom, scenic views, and sheer enjoyment of controlling the planes, others concentrate on building their own craft, while still others fly in competitions, where the goal is to complete circuit around designated "turning-points", as quickly as possible. These competitions test the pilot's (and the co-pilot, in two-seater gliders) ability to recognise and make use of local weather conditions as well as their flying skills and navigational abilities. There are also glider aerobatics competitions.

Your Health and Fitness to Fly
Can anyone Fly? Are hang gliders, and paragliders only flown by supermen or women? No! Nevertheless for paragliding you need to be over 14 and for hang gliding you need to be over 16. Under 18s need parental consent. You should be fit and active; have good co-ordination and an alert, reasoning mind (but you don't need any previous flying experience). Although no medical examinations am required you should be in good health. If you suffer from any medical condition such as epilepsy, fainting, giddiness, high blood pressure, heart condition or diabetes you should ask your Doctor's advice. Many people may think that flying hang gliders and paragliders is impossible for people with disabilities. Nothing could be further from the truth. The message from the free flying community to any people with disabilities is: 'You can fly!' See

Whatever the breed, an up-and-coming hang-gliding entrepreneur has a few options as far as getting involved in the industry, be it selling gear, opening a pro shop or a flight park, or offering lessons or excursions. According to DePanfilis, one way not to go is equipment manufacturing, as Orange, California-based Wills Wing Inc. and Altair in Draper, Utah, have had a stranglehold on the industry for years. The concept of flight parks—designated areas for gliding and other recreational activities-has taken off, too. Typically, these resort-like spots are found in parts of the country where there are no training hills or mountains for gliders to take off from. DePanfilis points to 44-acre Lookout Mountain Flight Park in small Rising Fawn, Georgia, as the ultimate example of a full-service flight park and school.

Aviation and aeronautics are terms that refer to the development and operation of vehicles that are known as aircraft because they are either lighter or heavier than the air. Among the lighter-than-air vehicles are balloons and airships that are powered by helium, methane, hydrogen, or hot air. These aircraft are mostly flown today for recreational and competitive purposes. Heavier-than-air vehicles include gliders, helicopters, airplanes, and homebuilt and ultralight aircraft. These aircraft are used for military, business, and commercial purposes as well as for various air shows and racing competitions throughout the world. Gliders
Now if you are somewhat like an Omish person, and you don't like motorized things then gliding and parasailing are for you. Gliders do not have motors and they move around by entering thermals that lift them into the air. To get off the ground you would use one of two methods. The first is they are attached onto another powered plane by a cable and are flown into the air. The other way is the use a winch that has a long cable attached to it, and as it puts the glider and lifts it into the air. Gliding Site: learn about flying a glider
Hang Gliding
Hang gliding is different from gliding. You have a Hang glider attached onto you and you do a running jump off of a high cliff or building. You then use your body weight to move toward thermals which will lift you higher in the air. All you do when parasailing is glide around in the air, stay close to thermals, and don't crash! Survey of Fort Funston Recreational Use Karin Hu, Ph.D., September 2000 Introduction Fort Funston is a part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area located in San Francisco. Abstract During August 2000, recreational use of Fort Funston was measured. Twenty observation periods, lasting 45-55 minutes each, were completed on weekdays and weekends between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. A total of 1629 adult recreational users was counted, averaging 81 recreational users per observation period. The results showed that an average of 87 percent of the parties of recreational users was accompanied by a dog. Several directions for future studies are discussed below, including examining whether the presence of dogs increases park safety; accessibility for disabled and senior park users; recreational use during winter months; and the need for more off-leash GGNRA areas to prevent overcrowding. Fort Funston currently accommodates more than 5 percent of GGNRA visitors, but comprises less than 0.3 percent of GGNRA acreage. Method During the month of August 2000, twenty observation periods were completed.
