I have received LOTS of Halloween email. Not all of it has been "kind". Some of the negative email is even from Christians. The Halloween page was my first holiday page and it was the most difficult to complete. I have tried to take all of the "regular" American holidays and create pages from a Christian perspective. I use them to teach and educate the public about the REAL history behind each holiday. Many homeschool families use them for unit studies. The Halloween pages have caused quite a stir. Each person seems quite impassioned by the subject. I really didn't have any idea of how much emotion a page could create. My objective was NOT to JUDGE others. That is not my responsibility. We are all accountable for our own actions to the Lord. As Christians we have the Holy Spirit who does the convicting in our lives. We have the Scriptures to teach and guide us. So what Annie thinks really doesn't matter at all. If someone has a desire to change and changes comes from other peoples opinions then it will never last. Real change will only last if the Lord burdens you to do it. Rules and regulations are not what being a Christian is all about. "To whom much is given much is required". We are all accountable for our own actions and each one of our words.

Apple bobbing This is a cool game to play outside during lunchbreak. Simply fill a deep barrel full of water and put some apples in. Costume Karuta I had this great idea whilst having a meeting in Kagawa prefecture. First of all you prepare several sets of simple Hallowe'en costumes. Examples could be a sheet for a ghost, a hat for a witch or a mask for a wolf man, or whatever!! You split the kids into teams and each team has a full set of costumes. The teacher shouts out a word, e.g. "ghost", and the front kid from each group has to run to the costumes and put on the correct one! Elementary education majors teach African art lesson with pumpkin props story by SCOTT PHILLIPS photos by RICK DRUSE Jessica McCullough, sophomore undecided, studies children painting pumpkins at the children's workshop for her Lifespan and Human Development class. ainting pumpkins with creative designs, bright colors and geometric shapes to learn about African art is the lesson K-State's elementary education majors taught at the Wonder Workshop in Manhattan. As part of the requirements for an elementary education degree from the College of Education, K-State education students are required to take a class called Art for Elementary Schools. "This class gives students the experience to learn about teaching art and interacting with elementary students in the art classroom," Lynda Andrus, K-State teacher for the class, said. "Not all of these students are art teachers there are just a lot of schools that will need them to teach art. That's what this class helps teach." The Wonder Workshop, at 409 Poyntz Ave., serves as the environment for these elementary students. Students from Manhattan who attend the workshop are broken into different clubs and meet at the workshop once a week. Thursdays are art-club days, and this Thursday, students were learning about African art by painting pumpkins with bright colors and geometric designs.
