GA 3rd/II/DRAFT SUBJECT OF RESOLUTION: Programme of Activities of the International Decade of the World's Indigenous People SUBMITTED TO: The Third Committee SUBMITTED BY: Guatemala THE THIRD COMMITTEE Noting with deep concern the plight of the indigenous peoples of the world and the indignities they have suffered and continued to suffer at the hands of both foreign and domestic governments, Recognizing the tremendous positive impact the International Decade of the World's Indigenous Peoples has had on the status of indigenous peoples the world over, Cognizant of the fact that the International Decade of the World's Indigenous Peoples is drawing to a close, Alarmed by the potential loss of momentum to the movement to restore the rights of indigenous peoples with the end of the International Decade of the World's Indigenous Peoples, Convinced that effective socioeconomic changes cannot be wholly completed within the span of a decade, Declaring the necessity of continued support in the cessation of discrimination against the world's indigenous peoples and restoration of their right to life, liberty and security of person
