Photo from Lincoln Blackburn Geography Grenada is a three island state : Grenada, Carriacou, and Petit Martinique.
Grenada is the largest of the three, with a width of twelve miles (18 km) and a length of twenty-one miles (34 km). The total area is 133 square miles.
The highest point is Mount Saint Catherine, at 2,757 feet.
Carriacou is much less mountainous than Grenada, with an area of 13 square miles and wonderful sandy beaches. Location The three islands of Grenada are located in the Eastern Caribbean at the southern extremity of the Windward islands, only 100 miles north of Venezuela. To the north lie St. Vincent and the Grenadines; to the south Trinidad and Tobago. Climate Average temperatures range from 24C/ 75F to 30C/ 87F, tempered by the steady and cooling trade winds. The lowest temperatures occur between November and February. Because of Grenada's remarkable topography, the island also experiences climate changes according to altitude. The driest season is between January and May. Even during the rainy season, from June to December, it rarely rains for more than an hour at a time and generally not every day. Population Grenada's population numbers about 93,000, comprising citizens of African, East Indian, and European descent. The largest proportion of the population, about 75%, is of African descent.

    Grenada Tours Overview
Nutmeg ice cream. Nutmeg cheesecake. Nutmeg sprinkled over rum punch. There's even a nutmeg rub that's supposed to cure the common cold. Grenadians are nothing if not resourceful with the spice. And that's understandable: They grow one-third of the world's nutmeg. But while you'll see (and smell) plenty of the glossy brown nuts in Grenada, there's more to this country than spices. St. George's, the capital city, is one of the prettiest ports in the region. Pastel-colored houses with red-tiled roofs perch on green slopes overlooking the bay, which includes a lagoon that's actually the collapsed crater of an extinct volcano. Then there's the intensely blue lake atop the rain forest in Grand Etang Park. All of the islands that make up this nation have the languid charm of the Caribbean as it used to be. Although resort developers have discovered Grenada, only a small stretch of beach is given over to them. The rest of Grenada feels very local rather than touristy. Carriacou and Petite Martinique - the other two islands sometimes visited by travelers - are especially enticing for those who find even the leisurely pace of Grenada too hectic. A windjammer-type cruise or a yacht trip through the area is a good option: These are some of the finest sailing waters in the world.

One of the smallest independent countries in the western hemisphere, Grenada was seized by a Marxist military council on 19 October 1983. Six days later the island was invaded by US forces and those of six other Caribbean nations, which quickly captured the ringleaders and their hundreds of Cuban advisers. Free elections were reinstituted the following year. Table of contents showTocToggle("show","hide")

A Geographic Introduction to Grenada, West Indies
by C. D. Allen, Geographer To attempt to describe the entire geography of a place is, to say the least, a very broad and lofty goal. Geography as a discipline itself is broad in nature and scope, and due to that fact, this research must be a broad body of research. The term geography as we know it today was first coined by the Greek Librarian and Scholar, Eratosthenes, who in the second century BC, among other great accomplishments, measured the polar circumference of the earth with amazing accuracy. Thus, the etymology of the word geography comes from the Greek words, geo , meaning "earth" and graphein , meaning "to describe." Therefore, geography is usually defined as a discipline that "describes the earth." As stated in the opening paragraph, this allows for the study of nearly anything on the earth, since that is what geographers do, "describe" things. But what do we describe? The attempt of this "introduction" is to describe, in brief, the Geography of Grenada: from the climate and weather to the topography and geology, and among other topics, to even encompass the study of economics, politics, and history. Bearing in mind that the earth constantly undergoes changes, describing a place can be even more of a rigorous task. Geography is one of the few truly malleable disciplines, and the geographer must constantly keep up with the changes. Certainly history, societies, and landforms change, but usually over decades, centuries, and millennia, respectively. In contrast, geography changes
