CREATION IN THE NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM OF GREAT BRITAIN - IMPACT No. 343 January 2002 by Larry Vardiman , Ph.D. Institute for Creation Research. All Rights Reserved
Introduction
It is not uncommon for Christians to feel oppressed by the heavy emphasis on evolution and naturalistic, anti-Christian sentiment in science museums. From the commentary and interpretation in many museum displays one would think that all legitimate scientists agree with Darwin and creation is a concept accepted only by ignorant fundamentalists. On my first visit to the Natural History Museum of Great Britain in London I expected a similar experience. But upon approaching the museum I was at first astounded by the size and magnificence of the building. I was then puzzled by the architecture of the building and then angered by what I thought was an intentional attempt to ridicule Christians and the Bible. I came to discover that quite the opposite was true.

Beeston Castle, Cheshire To see the bumf about this web site's history and other items, click here There has been an insidious corruption on the Internet (not to mention viruses) in the form of 'spamming' of web sites. It was something that a web owner could deal with a couple of years ago, but is now out of hand. The public bulletin boards on this site, including guest books, have been rendered pretty much useless to people who want to discuss castles. So, folks! Here is the deal: you can register as a member of this site (no fees, no pop-up-or-under ads, no giving away of e-mail addresses to other parties) for the right to post to the new Bulletin Board system, which will replace all the other stuff. The site itself is of course open to anybody who browses it.

Brighton, Sussex: Harvester Press Microform Publications, 1978. 6 reels. COVERAGE The reports from 1837-1867 are comprised of British prime ministers' handwritten reports to the monarch on proceedings of cabinet meetings. These manuscript letters represent the sole official record of the deliberations of Cabinet. Prime Ministers such as Melbourne, Peel, Russell and Palmerston wrote confidential memoranda for Queen Victoria on all major questions of the day. Their reports cover the three decades when the Great Reform Acts of 1832, civil disturbances and the Chartist Riots contributed to unprecedented economic and social change. The reports from 1867-1916 include 1,700 confidential manuscript letters preserved in the Royal Archives at Windsor Castle. These letters are the only official record of cabinet meetings, decisions and discussions for this time, as no other historical record was allowed to be kept. The Prime Minister, as the Crown's first confidential adviser, was required to send a report to the sovereign after every cabinet meeting. Only he was permitted to take notes of Cabinet proceeedings, and his personal letters were written the same day and prepared in his own hand. They range from short statements to detailed accounts of arguments put forth and decisions taken. A wide range of subjects is covered, with the greatest emphasis on political activity in Great Britain.

    http://www.canalmuseum.org.uk/history/ukcanals.htm
    History of canals in Britain
In the history of canals, Britain was not a pioneer. The Chinese can claim that the Grand Canal of China was one of the first, in the tenth century, although even earlier examples existed in that country. The earliest canals were connected with natural rivers, either as short extensions or improvements to them. The difference between a natural river, and a wholly man-made canal is clear, but in between are many variations of river improvement and extension so it is therefore difficult to be precise about which navigation can claim to be the first canal! The familiar pound lock which is in use today in Britain is said to have been invented by Chhiao Wei-Yo, in the year 983, in China, although the mitre gate, an important part of the canal lock today, is credited to Leonardo Da Vinci.n (1452 - 1519) In Britain the Romans built the Fossdyke from Lincoln to the River Trent , for drainage and for navigation and also the Caer Dyke around AD 50. A notable waterway completed in 1566 was the Exeter Canal which bypassed part of a river to make navigation easier. This had the first poind locks in Britain, equipped with lifting, vertical gates. The mitre gate, which has V shaped gates held together by the water pressure, was introduced in this country on the River Lee, at Waltham Abbey. Some other early British canals are an improved section of the River Welland in Lincolnshire, built in 1670, and the Stroudwater Navigation, in Gloucestershire, built 1775 - 1779 and the Sankey Canal in Lancashire, opened in stages, 1757 - 1773.

The Anaesthesia Heritage Centre at the headquarters of the Association of Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland at 21 Portland Place form a national resource for the history of anaesthesia.
The Anaesthesia Museum began with the original collection of Charles King (1888-1965), an engineer and instrument maker, who started to specialise in anaesthetic apparatus in the early 1920s, a time when considerable technical developments in anaesthesia were taking place. He worked with leading anaesthetists of the day, in developing anaesthetic instruments, and over the years built up a collection of around 70 pieces of equipment. The historic and educational value of the collection was recognised even in his own day, being used for teaching purposes within the new specialised courses on anaesthesia, with King teaching on many of them.
