A Journal of the History of Astrology and Cultural Astronomy
Editor Nicholas Campion - Deputy Editor Patrick Curry PhD
Culture and Cosmos is the first journal to be devoted to the study of the history of astrology and cultural astronomy. If astrology is the use of celestial phenomena to provide meaning for human life, then cultural astronomy is the broader use of astronomical beliefs and theories to regulate and inform society, politics, the arts and every aspect of human life. Culture and Cosmos is peer-reviewed, and all articles considered for publication will be sent out to specialist reviewers for comment. We will consider articles on any aspect of the history of astrology or cultural astronomy, from earliest times down to the present day. Our subjects may vary from the development of astrology in ancient Sumer to contemporary belief in alien abduction. We will carry articles, news and reviews. The present is the sum total of all past events, and the study of the history of astrology is not only concerned with discovering the past, but with understanding the present.

For a more detailed history of Lutherans in britain, click there are more than 100,000 Lutherans in britain, mainly from The Lutheran Council of great britain.
    http://lutheran.org.uk/a-history.htm
The history of Lutherans in Britain Lutherans take their name from Martin Luther, an Augustinian monk and theologian in 16th century Germany. He believed that the church was ignoring or contradicting important teachings of Christ, and that it had become corrupt as an institution. Because his convictions were deeply felt, in 1517 he published 95 theses for discussion and debate within the church. His aim was to reform the church so that Christ's gospel was restored to the central position in the church's life and teaching. Luther did not want to leave the church, but the church's leadership regarded his views as disturbing and dangerous. In 1520 Luther was excommunicated. Luther, however, continued to proclaim his views in his preaching, teaching and writing, and he was supported by a growing number of people, including many clergy and secular rulers. In a short time large areas of Germany became 'Lutheran', and 'Lutheranism' took root in other European countries and in Scandinavia. The Lutheran Church was the first church to grow out of the Reformation movement. The Reformation was kindled by Luther's 95 theses and rapidly spread throughout Western Europe, influencing also the church in Britain at the time of Henry VIII.

Always Check Directly with Museums for Updated Information
Always telephone first to check if the museum is still showing examples of dress or accessories or textiles. Galleries are updated sometimes to improve conservation conditions. Also check days and times of opening. Some museums close when you least expect it such as on a Friday. Many venues have internet sites with information on opening hours and fees. Some venues charge an entrance fee, but some publicly owned venues in the UK now have free entrance once again.
    A Note on Footwear
If you wear heels I suggest you take a pair of low flatter shoes or check beforehand that the venue will let you in if they are preserving original wooden floors. All National Trust properties like the base of a shoe heel to be at least about 3 cm square. I was once refused entry because of wearing a heel deemed too damaging, luckily I had a spare pair of flat sandals in the car and soon caught up with my group. Some of these museums have direct web links and others are reviewed better on a secondary site. If you do find any broken links or changes of information please write to me at the email address in the footer.

    woman suffrage
    In Great Britain
The movement in Great Britain began with Chartism , but it was not until 1851 that a resolution in favor of female suffrage was presented in the House of Lords by the earl of Carlyle. John Stuart Mill was the most influential of the British advocates; his Subjection of Women (1869) is one of the earliest, as well as most famous, arguments for the right of women to vote. Among the leaders in the early British suffrage movement were Lydia Becker, Barbara Bodichon, Emily Davies , and Dr. Elizabeth Garrett Anderson; Jacob Bright presented a bill for woman suffrage in the House of Commons in 1870. In 1881 the Isle of Man granted the vote to women who owned property. Local British societies united in 1897 into the National Union of Women's Suffrage Societies, of which Millicent Garrett Fawcett was president until 1919. In 1903 a militant suffrage movement emerged under the leadership of Emmeline Pankhurst and her daughters; their organization was the Women's Social and Political Union. The militant suffragists were determined to keep their objective prominent in the minds of both legislators and the public, which they did by heckling political speakers, by street meetings, and in many other ways. The leaders were frequently imprisoned for inciting riot; many of them used the hunger strike . When World War I broke out, the suffragists ceased all militant activity and devoted their powerful organization to the service of the government. After the war a limited suffrage was granted; in 1928 voting rights for men and women were equalized.
