The University of Georgia Department of Housing and Consumer Economics is Responsibilities include working with faculty and students to build the Family Financial Management emphasis, which is registered with the Certified Financial Planner[TM] Board of Standards. Primary teaching assignment is courses in Intermediate Family Financial Management, Retirement Planning and Employee Benefits, Savings and Investments, Estate Planning, Insurance, and/or Family Financial Planning. Seeking candidate with a Ph.D. in financial management, finance, business administration, accounting, risk management, or closely related discipline with a specialization in family financial planning; demonstrated scholarly competence and potential for research. Students may not want to commit to a full degree program but may wish to take graduate distance courses to satisfy particular interests, fulfill CE credit needs, or earn a certificate. To encourage students to take advanced courses in subject areas of particular interest, several certificates of concentration are available. The certificates, awarded upon completion of three or four related three-credit courses, provide tangible evidence of graduate-level accomplishment and are an excellent way for prospective students to sample graduate study before making a full commitment to a masterÕs degree program. Certificate credits earned (except Advanced Management Certificate credits) may be applied toward the MSFS degree requirements if the student is subsequently admitted to a masterÕs degree program.

    Mission The mission of the Women Infants and Children (WIC) Food/Nutrition Section is to provide policy direction and technical assistance to ensure continuity in program administration and operation, and compliance with Georgia's Special Supplemental Food/Nutrition program regulations. WIC was created by Congress in 1972 to meet special nutritional needs of low income pregnant, post-partum and breast-feeding women, infants and children up to age five. Georgia's WIC Program is comprised of 21 local agencies, 279 local clinics and more than 1,583 retail grocery vendors. WIC services are available in every county in Georgia. The WIC program addresses the services that improve pregnancy outcome, reduce infant mortality and give children a healthy start through nutritious food supplement and nutrition education. News The Georgia Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) is requesting the public to comment on the program and to suggest ways to improve WIC services.
