Each Parent Educator is the parent of a child with disabilities who has received early intervention services. Parent Educators know about Babies Can't Wait policies; the laws, rules, regulations, and policies regarding education for young children with disabilities; the IFSP; transition planning; and multicultural issues. has a degree in Communication Arts and Design and worked as a freelance art director in the advertising/marketing field before accepting the position of Parent Educator in July 1999. She lives in Lilburn with her husband, Peter, and their two daughters. Their oldest daughter, Mary Anne, was born with a rare syndrome called Hypomelanosis of Itos. Their younger daughter, Caroline, received services through Babies Can't Wait for a speech and language delay. Karen is a very involved parent and active in many organizations that support children with special needs.
