Welcome to my homepage!
I am a 32 year old PHILHELLENE (lover of Greece) from Massachusetts, a vegetarian, Pisceas, civil/environmental engineer, and avid animal lover. My favorite place in the world is Greece. For those of you who are Greek, you should understand my reasoning without me having to explain, and for those of you who are not, I will try. Culture, Tradition, Family Ties, Passion.......(not to mention Scenery, Food, Music, Dance, and History) are the words that come to my mind. These are all the things that make my heart beat, feel bliss, passion, and peace at the same time. If you didn't understand my reasoning, I do not apologize.....simply go to Greece to experience it for yourself! Or, understand what I am saying by knowing and acknowledging that you have found "your" place in the world that gives you the same feelings.

What is the William Strother Society, Inc.? The William Strother Society, Inc. is a family association dedicated to perpetuating the memories of our ancestors and furthering fellowship among the descendants of William Strother (immigrant). Founded in 1984 and incorporated in Virginia in 1992 as a non-profit organization, the Society's members include descendants and their families of William Strother (immigrant), related families and others interested in the Strother family. Today there are over 500 active members in the Society from throughout the United States and around the world. William Strother (immigrant) settled in colonial Virginia in the seventeenth century in what is now King George County on the Rappahannock River near Port Conway. William's will, probated in 1702, names his wife Dorothy and six children: William, James, Jeremiah, Robert, Benjamin and Joseph. These six sons gave us a Strother family, which includes U.S. presidents, military leaders, judges, and legislators. Society members meet at a conference held every two years in different locations, usually in Virginia. The next conference will be in July 2004. Activities will include tours of historical sites, genealogical workshops, social gatherings and numerous opportunities to share family information. Members will be available to assist those uncertain of their Strother "roots."

A loner, she related mainly to her mother, Moe, and her youngest sister, Bosco. The year at the University of New Mexico changed some of her perceptions of world politics (she joined the schools Damsels of Dissent Club), but not her basic personality. Now, on her first visit to the island military base, she discovers a drastic among her family members as well. Her father, Major Mason Root, once a hotshot pilot with a seemingly unlimited future, now serves as Community Liaison Officer responsible for maintaining good public relations with the native inhabitants of the island. Major Root, who once looked with disdain at all desk jobs, finds himself bitter and unhappy. Her mother, Moe, seems a shell of her former self. She no longer runs a clean and efficient household. She seems remote, lethargic, and frequently sleeps until mid-afternoon. Bernies younger sister, Kit, now blossomed into a wild and beautiful young woman and the desire of many of the young airmen on the base. Only the youngest children, the twin boys, seem as carefree and uninhibited as they were when Bernie left. Even more puzzling to Bernie is the awkward silence at the mention of Fumiko, the family maid and Bernies confidant during the familys tour of duty in Tokyo at the Yokota Air Base.

A joint project of Lower Columbia Genealogical Society and Longview Public Library, the collection contains both local county records and resources for general genealogical research. Lower Columbia Genealogical Society
Organized in 1963, the society joined with the Longview Public Library in 1980 to create a genealogy book collection and provide genealogical information and research help to area residents. Society members have indexed and abstracted many local records. Money raised from society dues and projects purchases books and periodicals for The Genealogy Room collection at the Longview Public Library. Resources to Help Researchers
