It's more than 30 years after the first pioneers came to Colorado. This is a reporting of everyday life in an around Denver, Arapahoe County. Marriages, deaths, divorces, news of the day, court cases, and of course scoundrels. Watch as more names and family connections merge as data is added. We won't find them all but we can try. Perhaps in these lines one might find that long missing ancestor and who came after them. Maybe that one little "clue" to help continue the search. Everything is always a "work in progress" one name here another there, another clue here another there. Enjoy.................

Welcome To The
(This website has no official connection to Isabella County, Michigan, Central Michigan University,
or the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe) Isabella County was formed in 1831 from parent counties, Saginaw and Midland. The county is located close to the geographic center of the lower peninsula of Michigan. While primarily rural in nature, Isabella County is also noted for it's oil and gas production and the manufacturing of machinery for industry, food service and wood products. Mt. Pleasant is the county seat and also the home of Central Michigan University and the Clarke Historical Library, the second largest genealogy and historical library in the state. Central Michigan University was opened in 1893 as the Central Normal School and Business Institute. The school was operated by the city of Mt. Pleasant until 1895 when it was taken over by the State of Michigan and became Central Michigan Normal School. CMU became a four year institution in 1918 and a university in 1959. The county also encompasses the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Reservation, home of the Soaring Eagle Casino.

Schafer, Tombstone of Your Ancestors, Bowie, Md.: Heritage Books, Inc., 1991, 105). The U.S.A does not have a nationwide system of vital records registration and, with the exception of the New England states, where many towns have kept vital records from their beginnings, the states did not attempt to keep centralized vital records until the late 19th and early 20th centuries. For details of the dates for which centralized vital records are available for many countries and for the U.S. by state, the forms needed to request such records, and the addresses, telephone, and fax numbers of the records keepers, consult International Vital Records Handbook , by Thomas Jay Kemp.
