Murray County, Georgia
In March and April, 1996, a group of genealogists organized the Georgia Comprehensive Genealogy Database. The idea was to provide a single entry point for all counties in Georgia, where collected databases would be stored. In addition, the databases would be indexed and cross-linked, so that even if an individual were found in more than one county, they could be located in the index.
At the same time, volunteers were found who were willing to coordinate the collection of databases and generally oversee the contents of the web pages.

39. Bible And Family Records Index
is not included in the bible and Family Procedures for Researchers Using Archival records and Secured Prepared by the History and genealogy Unit, Connecticut
http://www.cslib.org/bible.htm
Bible and Family Records Index
This project was initiated under the direction of Lucius B. Barbour and continued under the supervision of his successor, Harold S. Burt. Most work was done during the years 1932-4, 1937-41, 1944-5, and 1953-5. Slip Index/Abstract
The slip index of approximately 25,000 entries transcribed from Bibles and other family records covers the 1600s to the early 1900s. Each alphabetically-arranged slip contains an abstract of an event (birth, marriage, death, etc.) from a particular record. At the bottom of the slip are citations to volumes and page numbers of a 26-volume set of Bible and Family Records transcriptions. The bound volumes often give information on other members of the family. Bound Volumes
The bound volumes consist of information transcribed onto set forms, together with a cover page giving the original source, notation of its owner and location at the time the material was deposited with the State Library, name of the individual transcribing the record, and date of transcription. Each volume also includes an index to that specific volume. Volume 27 of this set is not included in the Bible and Family Records slip index, so it is necessary to consult the index in the back of the volume.

Family Bibles
Family Bibles sometimes, but not always, include family members' birthplaces. Make sure that you have asked your family members whether or not they are aware of any old Bibles that are still in the family. When you find information in actual Bibles, check the publication date of the Bible. If the Bible was printed in, for example, 1871, but a birth is recorded for 1851, it is obvious that the information about that particular birth was not written down at the time of the birth, but was written down several years later. Information recorded after the fact is less likely to be accurate. Sometimes the Title Page of the Old Testament, giving the publication date, is missing. In that case, check to see if there is a Title Page for the New Testament. When you cannot find family Bibles among your own family members, check with genealogical societies in the area where the family lived. They may have or be aware of the location of local Bible records. When you are searching for Bible records, be sure to look under both the maiden name and married name. Next, search through the transcribed Bible records belonging to the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). These transcribed Bible records are available at the DAR library in Washington, D.C., local DAR chapters, and on microfilm through the Family History Centers of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (L. D. S.). See the
