Reptiles Amphibians frogs and toads, Frog. There are more frogs and toads than any other type of amphibian. frogs are mostly wet and slimy and they hop.
http://www.pbs.org/wnet/nature/critters/frogandtoad.html
Frog
  • There are more frogs and toads than any other type of amphibian.
  • Frogs are mostly wet and slimy and they hop. Toads, on the other hand, walk to get around and are warty and dry. Both are mostly nocturnal, and some frogs will even hibernate by making a cocoon or burrowing.
  • Frogs and toads are found only around fresh water, where they will lay anywhere from one to 35,000 eggs.
  • Frogs and toads are cold-blooded. This means that they rely on the sun for warmth.
Both frogs and toads can be found all over the world except for Antarctica. Most frogs are found in the tropics.
Most frogs are carnivores and eat insects, but some eat fruit.
Frogs drink through their skin. Because their skin is so important and it can dry out quickly, many frogs shed their skin often. They will wriggle out of it, and sometimes even eat it!
The word amphibian means "both lives." Frogs and toads have lives in the water as tadpoles and on land when they are adults. NATURE Home

    Awesome Amphibians ! ...
With hundreds of species in the region, Southeast Asia's amphibian diversity is remarkable, occupying a wide range of niches from forest floor to freshwater swamp, and from urban areas to mountain torrents. However, their numbers are in serious decline due to a number of factors, mostly man-made. For more on that issue visit the DAPTF home page. Meanwhile enjoy these pages ...

SUNY-ESF was ranked among the nation's top universities by U.S. News and World Report . Story HERE Frogs and Toads of New York Most everyone recognizes frogs. Frogs, like salamanders and newts, are amphibians. Unlike salamanders, they have made a major evolutionary detour from the body plan of their ancient ancestors. The hind legs of frogs are much larger than the forelegs and the tail has disappeared. This allows a new mode of locomotion, namely jumping, an effective method to elude their many predators. Because they leave the ground to get around, using scent to communicate with each other is not a viable option, as it is for salamanders. Consequently, frogs are among the most vocal of vertebrate animals (birds fly, so they vocalize a lot as well!). Frogs in New York fall into four major groups (families) linked by anatomy and other features of their biology. Toads American toad The similar Fowler's toad is found in the southeastern part of the state and on Long Island. It has many warts in each of the dark spots on its back and sides, while the American toad has one or two warts per spot.
