In these struggles, each country fought for control of the continent with the assistance of Native American and colonial allies. The French and Indian War differed from previous confrontations, however. The earlier wars consisted primarily of skirmishes between small regular units of the European powers aided by local militiamen. The French and Indian War was part of a "great war for empire," a determined and eventually successful attempt by the British to attain a dominant position in North America, the West Indies, and the subcontinent of India. Social Studies Web Page
Greetings to all across America and the world who use this web page. It was created to help students (and parents) find information for school. There are also some links that are just for amusement. Have fun! Welcome to the 2003-2004 school year and best wishes to you! After 23 years of teaching social studies at the 8th grade level, I am now in my fourth year of teaching senior Government at Orrville High School in Ohio. I hope that one day you will be able to have a job that you like as much as I like mine. Due to a small senior class and district wide cut backs, this school year I will have only 3 classes of "regular" senior government and only 1 AP (Advanced Placement) government classes. For the first time, I will have 2 classes of sophomore world history. I continue to feature 8th grade history links for the time period 1490-1815 (which can be found in the lower half of this site), as well as many links in the current events and government categories.
This site is divided into the following categories: Current Events and AP Resources/Government and AP Sites/Geography/General References/Military History (French and Indian War, Revolutionary War and War of 1812)/Ohio Frontiersmen and Indians/Colonial Times/Museums/Sports/Other Interesting Sites
