It is well to trace from the beginning the different phases of this warfare. "Facilis Descensus Averni" 4. The war began by the overthrow of the civil power of the Popes, the downfall of which, according to the secret intentions of the real leaders, afterwards openly avowed, was, under a political pretext, to be the means of enslaving at least, if not of destroying the supreme spiritual power of the Roman Pontiffs.-That no doubt might remain as to the true object of this warfare, there followed quickly the suppression of the Religious Orders; and thereby a great reduction in the number of evangelical labourers for the propagation of the faith amongst the heathens, and for the sacred ministry and religious service of Catholic countries.-Later, the obligation of military service was extended to ecclesiastics, with the necessary result that many and grave obstacles were put to the recruiting and due formation even of the secular Clergy. Hands were laid upon ecclesiastical property, partly by absolute confiscation, and partly by charging it with

hen I was converted to Christ I had belonged to the Masonic Lodge in Adams, New York, about four years. During the struggle of conviction of sin through which I passed, I do not recollect that the question of Freemasonry ever occurred to my mind.
New Views of Lodgism
But soon after my conversion, the evening came for attendance upon the Lodge, and I went. They, of course, were aware that I had become a Christian and the Master called upon me to open the Lodge with prayer. I did so, and poured out my heart to the Lord for blessings upon the Lodge. I observed that it created considerable excitement. The evening passed away, and at the close of the Lodge I was asked to pray again. I did so, and retired much depressed in spirit. I soon found that I was completely converted from Freemasonry to Christ, and that I could have no fellowship with any of the proceedings of the Lodge. Its oaths appeared to me to be monstrously profane and barbarous. At that time I did not know how much I had been imposed upon by many of the pretensions of Masonry. But, upon reflection and examination, a severe struggle and earnest prayer, I found I could not consistently remain with them. My new life instinctively and irresistibly recoiled from any fellowship with what I now regarded as "the unfruitful works of darkness."

MASONIC BIOGRAPHIES FRINGE FREEMASONRY FAMOUS FREEMASONS Esoteric Freemasonry Fringe Masonry existed. By examining it in a rational manner and in the context of its time we can defuse it and render it worthless as a weapon of attack on mainstream Freemasonry. John Hamill. Transactions of Quatuor Coronati Lodge . Vol. 109. p. 214. Fringe Masonry encompasses those regular freemasons whose interest in mysticism and the occult led them to such organizations as the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn (HOGD) and the Ordo Templi Orientis . Neither of these organizations was ever recognized by any regular masonic body. The Golden Dawn had no masonic pretensions but the fact that the founders of the OTO made such claims opened it to accusations of being clandestine or irregular Freemasonry. Since 1919 ( Equinox Vol. III, No. 1) they ceased to claim being or having any authority regarding Freemasonry. Currently most masonic Grand Lodge jurisdictions are unaware of, or indifferent to, the existence or history of the OTO. It must be stressed that although Freemasonry recognizes many of these men as freemasons

Jacob provides an insight into how Freemasons, in their private sociability, reconstituted polity and established a constitutional form of self-government complete with laws, elections and representatives. Moral, ethical and political prescriptions permeating
mentioned are Freemason utopian, reforming and free-thinking tendencies (Benjamin Franklin among a few). Jacob explains the exclusion of women in Freemasonry and the anti-masonic trends. Knight, Stephen.

n 1957 Ray A. Neff of Gibbsboro, New Jersey, walked into Leary's ookshop in Philadelphia and purchased a faded, second-hand book for fifty cents. Unbeknownst to Neff, inside that dusty military journal was a profound and stunning confession from the grave of a Union General and traitor, Lafayette Baker. Booth was not alone, and according to Gen Baker, did indeed survive. And as late as 1977, the FBI, did in fact investigate the issue of JOHN WILKES BOOTH and his possible survival. Recently the Bureau released 184 pages in PDF format, Booth 1 Booth 2 Booth 3 Booth 4 . According to the FBI, "These records contain correspondence dated 1922-23 of William J. Burns, former Director of the Bureau of Investigation, concerning a theory that Booth lived many years after the assassination of President Lincoln. Also included are the results of a 1948 examination by the FBI Laboratory of a boot said to be worn by Booth on the night of the assassination and a 1977 examination of a diary belonging to Booth." On January 23, 1923, William J. Burns, by then the acting director of the Department of Justice wrote "I have gone over with considerable interest the volume entitled "The Escape and Suicide of John Wilkes Booth" by Finis L. Bates of Memphis, Tennessee...The work contains very strong evidence in support of the old belief that Booth did escape and live many years after the assassination of President Lincoln..." (

Masonic Information Center
What is the MIC? The Masonic Information Center (MIC) was founded in 1993 by a grant from John J. Robinson, well-known author, speaker, and Mason. Its purpose is to provide information on Freemasonry to Masons and non-Masons alike and to respond to critics of Freemasonry.  Inquiries about Freemasonry to the MIC come from around the world - by phone, fax and email . The inquiries vary from information on how to become a Mason, to wanting more information about the Fraternity, answering specific questions about the ritual or Masonic protocol and genealogy. The MSA Short Talk Bulletin Vol. 79 For February 2001 has the Masonic Information Center 2000 report. See Publications for more information about this and other Short Talk Bulletins.

Esoteric Freemasonry Welcome to a collection of articles on Esoteric Freemasonry. Is Freemasonry itself an occult society? As a practising occultist and Freemason it is my considered opinion that Freemasonry is not. Freemasonry, while it is "veiled in allegory and illustrated by symbols", does not teach the skills necessary for operative magic and its genuinely occult symbolic framework is too sparse and disjointed to provide for any sound structure for learning or disseminating occult principles. I shortly intend to write an essay on this subject. Anyway here are some articles on Esoteric Freemasonry, which I hope you will find enlightening (or at least interesting). Important Note : For readers unfamiliar with the structure of Freemasonry I must emphise that all articles on this page (and in fact all articles that are not published by a Grand Lodge as a Grand Lodge declaration) are the opinions of the author. Freemasonry is governed by fully independent Grand Lodges at state or national level and there is no universally accepted dogma. Vale.

Freemasonry The G in our symbol Geometry. Nothing more and nothing less. No mason would ever assume that he has the right to tell you what you should believe or disbelieve as we are neither a religion nor a sect. We all hope that you do at least believe in a supreme being. We are simply religious people of all faiths striving to live moral lives in accordance to our own personal beliefs in God. No more and no less. To Masonic Links What is Freemasonry and who are Freemasons? This is the text of a leaflet published by by the Board of General Purposes of the United Grand Lodge of England in 1984. What is Freemasonry? Introduction: Freemasonry is one of the world's oldest secular fraternal societies. This leaflet is intended to explain Freemasonry as it is practised under the United Grand Lodge of England, which administers Lodges of Freemasons in England and Wales and in many places overseas. The explanation may correct some misconceptions. Freemasonry is a society of men concerned with moral and spiritual values. Its members are taught it's precepts by a series of ritual dramas, which follow ancient forms and use stonemasons' customs and tools as allegorical guides. The Essential Qualification for Membership: The essential qualification for admission into and continuing membership is a belief in a Supreme Being. Membership is open to men of any race or religion who can fulfil this essential qualification and are of good repute.
