Ogden, UTAH (May 20, 2004) Thank you cards can sometimes get the job done. You get them occasionally from your mom, your co-worker, the guy you buy Ebay stuff from. But when it comes to thanking Tread Trainers and responsible recreationists for their dedication—a cursive thank you on a heart shaped card won’t cut it.
With the help of the Ford Motor Company Fund, Tread Lightly! has created a new advertisement set to debut this summer. The ad was created to highlight the nice works of responsible recreationists and to thank Ford for their continuing support of Tread Lightly!. It was also aimed at increasing participation in the Tread Trainer™ program.
“This ad was meant to be a lighthouse in a sea of mixed messages from the off-highway advertising world,” said Lori Davis, Tread Lightly!’s executive director. “Using your vehicle responsibly is the only way to keep areas open and the environment thriving—and this ad makes that clear in a positive way.”
The campaign will debut this spring and summer in popular enthusiast magazines—ATV Rider, ATV Magazine, ATV Sport, Blue Ribbon, Snow Goer, Bowhunting World, Off Road, Off Road Adventures and Legacy Magazine. It was designed by Tripp Advertising.

By Kristi Schroeder The Eldorado National Forest and Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit manage a wide diversity of outdoor recreation opportunities from hiking, horseback riding, backpacking, and rock climbing to off-highway vehicles. Winding their way through the forest is more than 60 nonwilderness trails for hikers, mountain bikers and equestrian riders. Located in the vicinity of Sly Park Reservoir, the Fleming Meadow trail system is perfect for people seeking a close place to day hike and is accessible most of the year. You can customize your hike by combining trail segments of varying length and difficulty. From the Hell Hole country in the north to Highway 88 to the south, the National Forest trails offer the perfect nature experience for young and old and for all experience levels. Backpacking in Desolation and Mokelumne wilderness areas offers a remote, primitive experience for the knowledgeable backpacker. Hint: Many areas of the wilderness are highly popular due to their relatively easy access to the highways. Avoid these areas if you want a real wilderness experience. With a little extra time and fitness, you can reach some of the lesser-used areas or the interior zones. It will be worth it. Permits are required for wilderness areas year-round.

Jon Gooch May 30, 2002 EAS 190 Four Wheeling Across History: From General Purpose Vehicle to the Modern Day Jeep I. Bibliographical Guide People choose various ways to occupy their spare time, whether it is through traditional recreational activities and hobbies or through unconventional pastimes such as four-wheeling. With each passing year, more people are drawn toward the risk and excitement of conquering nature in their four-wheel drive vehicle. Consequently, big business has grown around the four-wheeling sport, as specialty shops meet the demand for custom parts and vehicle modifications. I initially planned to examine the entire four-wheel trend, but after beginning my research I decided it would be more interesting to trace the evolution of the Jeep from its military predecessor to its modern day form. My sources are organized by their publication date because I found the more relevant sources are the most recent. Foster, Patrick R. The Story of Jeep . N.p.: Krause Publications, 1998.
