The Mid-Atlantic Association of Forensic Scientists [MAAFS] organization objectives are: to encourage the exchange and dissemination of ideas and information within the fields of recognized forensic sciences through improving contacts between persons and laboratories engaged in the forensic sciences; to stimulate research and the development of new and/or improved techniques; and to promote high standards of performance and facilitate professional acknowledgment of persons working in recognized forensic science disciplines. Our membership is drawn primarily, but not exclusively, from Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia. We have five types of membership status: Charter, Regular, Emeritus, Corresponding members, all with equal voting privileges and Student Associates. We have constructed this web page to provide the members of the forensic community, as well as the public, with general information about our organization and provide a local branch affiliation for members of the American Academy of Forensic Science. We hope that you see this web page as a resource, and we welcome any comments [or compliments]. Please see our

Master of forensic sciences Administration program for management of forensicrelated organizations, and M.S. program for research in a particular discipline held by forensic sciences Department, OSU Center for Health Sciences, Tulsa, OK.
http://www.healthsciences.okstate.edu/forensic/index.htm
Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences offers two graduate degree programs in forensic sciences: the Master of Forensic Sciences Administration (M.F.S.A.) and the Master of Science in Forensic Sciences (M.S.). The M.F.S.A. Program is for practitioners interested in management of forensic-related organizations. This interdisciplinary program covers a range of forensic science disciplines and focuses on administrative areas. All courses are web-based. The M.S. Program offers advanced studies and research in disciplines within the forensic sciences. Students work with faculty mentors with expertise in a chosen area. Non-program enrollment is available through the Special Application for Graduate Admission. See Alternative Admission under the Admissions Procedures for details. The Graduate Course of Academic Study (GCAS) in the Forensic Examination of Questioned Documents is now available. Established in cooperation with the American Board of Forensic Document Examiners , these OSU courses support apprenticeship/journeyman programs in preparing document examiners, trainees, and laboratory interns for certification. Associated training or experience is required. GCAS participants may either enroll as special students or apply for admission to the MFSA program. For more information contact Jim Larner , our lead instructor in the Examination of Questioned Documents.

Forensic Science is the application of scientific knowledge to solve legal problems.
This can be anything from a common burglary through environmental protection to international arms control. In our increasingly regulated world science is becoming more and more intricately involved with civil and criminal law.
While it is by no means exclusively connected to criminal cases, it is the collection, examination and presentation of scientific evidence to solve crimes that is most familiar to the public as "forensic science". Using the very latest in technology, forensic scientists convert the clues collected from a crime scene into evidence admissible in a court of law.
