Princeton leads all Division 1-A schools
with 28 National Championships
Princeton University boasts one of the most storied football traditions in America. The Princeton Tigers played in the very first college football game in 1869 against the Rutgers Scarlet nights. From there, the Tigers went on to win a string of national titles into the 1920's giving the Tigers the most Division 1-A National Championships in the country. Upon the creation of the Ivy League in 1955, the Princeton Tigers began to show their dominance in league competition as well, winning eight titles to date. From stars like Dick Kazmaier, Cosmo Iacavazzi and Charlie Gogolak in the 50's and 60's to names like Keith Elias, Ross Tucker and Dennis Norman, the Princeton Tigers continue to produce only the highest quality of football players.

Royal Engineers Association
Football Club History In 1863 the Royal Engineers Football Club
was formed and under the captaincy of
Major F Marindin RE joined the Football Association.
On 20th July the FA Challenge Cup was introduced and the first final was played in 1872 when a team from the Royal Engineers played and were the losers by 1-0. The Royal Engineers played in the finals in 1872 and 1874, 1875 , when they won the trophy, and in 1878. The Royal Engineers were the first to appreciate that football was essentially a team game, this being their great advantage over their opponents, and set a standard to be emulated by other clubs. It is therefore sad that the cup used today is not the symbol of football glory handed to the Corps in 1875, but their achievements will never be lost whilst Sappers present and future can proudly recall their forebears who won the cup Updated: 25 July 02 RE Home Contact Help Privacy Statement ... Arsenal 2-1 Leicester Arsenal rounded off their campaign in style to become the first side to go through a league season unbeaten since Preston achieved the feat in 1888/89.
Leicester threatened to stop Arsenal entering the history books when Paul Dickov headed home after 25 minutes. But Thierry Henry settled Arsenal's nerves with a penalty a minute after half-time following Frank Sinclair's clumsy foul on Ashley Cole. Patrick Vieira made it an invincible season with a 66th minute winner. I always had that dream and to fulfil it is marvellous
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger on staying unbeaten More Arsenal reaction Highbury was in party mood even before kick-off, and Freddie Ljungberg almost sparked early celebrations when he pulled a shot just wide after eight minutes. Henry then forced a fine save out of Leicester goalkeeper Ian Walker when he tipped over a 25-yard free-kick.

GAMLINGAY UNITED
FOOTBALL CLUB
History of Football in Gamlingay
It proved a good decision for the Club as although they were placed in Division 3B they won the Division 3 and 2 titles at the first attempt as well as reaching the final of the junior Cup where they lost 3-1 to Romsey Old Boys. The club was now on a roll and in l93O they won Division A of the Premier Division but were beaten in the Championship play-off by Chatteris Engineers. Three years later the league title was finally secured and for good nieasure beat Royston 2-0 in the final of the Creake Charity Shield. Eleven seasons were spent in the top flight before the club got relegated in 1936. The club missed the first season after the war as they re-built but were rewarded with their Division 1 place when they re-joined in 1957. It was obvious that they had another good side as they finished runners-up in both 1949 and l95O before finally winning Division 1A in 1954. Unfortunately the Reds only lasted two seasons in the Premier Division before being relegated. Gamlingay received it's nickname by virtue of the fact that in their early years the Motor Car was just rising to prominence and with the team colours being right red the locals name the team the "Rear Lights".
