  • The group's repertoire is taken from many sources: the bluegrass classics of Bill Monroe and the Stanley Brothers, early country music, mountain songs, and new material. There are many new arrangements of older songs, as well as bluegrass treatments of country and folk songs. Art, Stephanie, and Dale have each written songs or instrumentals frequently performed by the band. The band's mission is to preserve the hard-driving traditional bluegrass sound. Dale's banjo instrumentals, Len's fiddling, and Art's harmonica tunes always bring a rousing response from the audience. Bluegrass Unlimited.

    109. Beanstock Acoustical Music Festival
An annual event featuring acoustical folk and bluegrass music. Takes place in Tom Bean, Texas. Site includes venue information, lineup, list of past performers, and travel information.
    http://www.beanstock.org/
In the spirit of the Kerrville Music Festival,
we're celebrating the fine acoustic musicians of North Texas! Music. The universal language. Nothing else can bring out the emotional and spiritual quality like a good song. Through the words and melody one can see just how much we are all connected to one another. A common ground where we discover others who see the world as if they were looking through our own eyes. The songwriter has a way of showing such empathy like no other. They KNOW the song. They feel the emotion, its a part of them. No one can express it better. They experience the feeling they write about in their work. We hear a lot of good music performed by great artists these days. However, there's nothing like seeing the writer himself perform it live to experience the emotional meaning of the song. Beanstock brings to stage the best original work of art only the singer songwriter can provide. In a beautiful setting only nature can provide, you can enjoy the music at its best. While providing the wonders of music and nature to the public, Beanstock helps out local charities with proceeds and contributions from you. At Beanstock you will have the opportunity to fill out a questionaire and select the charity you would like Beanstock to contribute to. The list of charities are made up from the performing artist and the volunteer staff at Beanstock.

Dabney Hall Lounge is closed for renovation until at least September 2004. Caltech is returning this fine old 1928 building to its former grandeur and its humanities focus. The humanities library and the Treasure Room will return, and the Lounge itself will receive a facelift as well, with enhanced lighting, refinished floors and fixtures, and new restrooms. During the coming months, many of the Folk Music Society concerts will be held in Beckman Institute's auditorium, as well as our old standby alternate location, Winnett Student Lounge. We think you will like "Little Beckman" with its comfortable, multi-level seating. The location is very accessible, as the building is just off Wilson Avenue, to the west of landmark Beckman Auditorium ("Big Beckman"). In the evening, you may park in any of the nearby parking lots surrounding Beckman Auditorium, and also in the lots between Wilson and Michigan, just north of the Broad Center. You can print out a map of the campus by clicking here . You will find Beckman Institute located along Wilson Avenue in the upper left hand quadrant of the map. Be forwarned that the map may take a minute to appear. If you aren't on our email list, be sure to sign up and be notified about each concert. Write or email the Folk Music Society at
