If you would like to have an event listed please email full details to whatson@cwn.org.uk EVENT RON TRUEMAN-BORDER DATE Wednesday 9 June 2004, 8.30pm Ron Trueman Border has gained an enviable reputation as one of the folk scene's most popular singer/songwriter's. Much of his repertoire has been covered by performers such as, George Wilson and Les Elvin, all of whom are equally praiseworthy when it comes to performing Ron's songs. Perhaps it is the fact that he writes totally accessible choruses so enthusiastically received by his audience that everyone feels an empathy with the lyrics. Not only is he a truly gifted writer, Ron is a raconteur and multi-instrumentalist able to convey a sense of fun one minute and sheer emotion the next.

Hello, Friends,
We're pleased to tell you about two concerts we've just booked for May and June. On Tuesday, May 18, we present OPEN ROAD, a 5-piece bluegrass band from Fort Collins, Colorado. Call it High Lonesome from the Intermountain West. You can find their recordings on Rounder Records. On Monday, June 28, Irish band BOHOLA (based in Chicago) will come to Ojai for a night of traditional Irish tunes and songs. Read all about these shows below, and check out the links to the bands' websites. All of our previous 2004 concerts were sell-outs, so please buy your tickets early for these upcoming shows. We'd love to have you bring along some friends who've never attended the Ojai Folk Music concerts before. As always, the doors open at 7:00 p.m. for ticket holders, 7:15 for buyers, and the concert is at 7:30. Non-refundable advanced tickets may be purchased with a separate check for each concert to Tom Lowe (and a self-addressed-stamped envelope if you want them mailed back to you) to 885 Oakwood St., Ojai 93023. 98. Country, Folk, And Bluegrass
Country, folk, and bluegrass. Whether you re a fan of the Dixie Chicks, Garth Brooks, or Faith Hill, there s lots of variety in the country music area.
http://eduscapes.com/seeds/country.html
Country, Folk, and Bluegrass Whether you're a fan of the Dixie Chicks, Garth Brooks, or Faith Hill, there's lots of variety in the country music area. However all country songs have some things in common such as shared themes and melodies. Many country artists still use the guitar and fiddle as an integral part of the music. Contemporary Country. Today's country artists like Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Toby Keith, Clint Black, and Shania Twain are sometimes calls "crossovers" because they appeal to a broad audience. Traditional Country. When people think of traditional country music, they think about Waylon Jennings, Roger Miller, Conway Twitty, Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Eddie Rabbit, Porter Wagner, Roy Acuff. Women include Patsy Cline, Dolly Patron, Loretta Lynn, and Tammy Wynette. Others. Alternative, country gospel, cowboy, honky tonk, outlaw, progressive, and western swing are just a few of the many variations of country music. For example, Asleep at the Wheel are known for Texas swing, Willie Nelson for outlaw music, and k.d. lang for alternative. Merle Haggard and Dwight Yoakam play honky-tonk music.
