The Panhandle Library Access Network (PLAN) is a multi-type library cooperative, composed of members from public, academic, special, and school libraries located in the 17 counties of the Florida Panhandle. Forty-seven libraries representing over 174 sites are currently members of the consortium. The Network is governed by a nine person Board of Directors who are elected by the membership. The headquarters is located in Panama City Beach.

Filed under: The General Appropriations Committee of the Florida State Senate met on October 17, 2001 and did the following: Reduced State Aid to Libraries $3 Million in Recurring General Revenue $1 Million in Non-recurring General Revenue Converted remaining State Aid to Libraries from Recurring to Non-Recurring $28.4 million If you are a resident of Floirda, please contact your legislator and/or members of the Appropriations Committee immediately. There is no time to waste. The Senate will finish their work by 5 p.m. Today, October 18. Two points should be emphasized: Do not cut $4 million in State Aid to Libraries Do not convert any State Aid to Libraries to non-recurring funds! Update: 5:02 p.m. The Senate has restored $1.9 Million in Funds out of the $4 Million that were originally cut. Information on whether the funds have been made Non-Recurring Status is not yet available. House Action is also pending.
