There is a strong need for fisheries scientists with an appreciation of the legal and policy framework in which fisheries operates, and for fisheries managers and policy developers with an understanding of quantitative fisheries science. No institution in Australia, and only a handful of institutions worldwide, offers comprehensive undergraduate or postgraduate training in quantitative fisheries science, or the opportunity for interdisciplinary studies to include mathematics, computing, biology, ecology, economics, policy and law. | |
