With gratitude for the grace of the sea, to utilize the limited marine resources effectively and to contribute to rich and healthy eating habits of human beings are the missions of fisheries industry. By the diversification in the taste of consumers, however, it becomes difficult to bring general consumersEinterest in the marine products of excellent nutrition. Now everybody in fisheries industry needs to conduct the basic production and sales activities with trying various attempts and ideas strenuously.
According to the opinion of visitors, the attractive point of our exhibition is "the vitality and vigor". Its characteristic atmosphere dramatizes the vitality of fisheries industry and provokes visitors to make deals and to negotiate with exhibitors, contributing to increasing chances of your business negotiation. The vitality and vigor are the basic attitudes of fisheries industry, to be cherished and not be forgotten.
In Japan, the fisheries industry will have been one of the most representative industries forever and enjoys the much respected position as a food providing industry. Although Japanese economy and fisheries industry suffer many problems such as deflation, low natality and demographic senescence, we are convinced the solution will be found with the wisdom of attendants in addition to your daily efforts in business.
Whether through familiar merchandise or lesser-known masterpieces, from Hokkaido in the north to Okinawa in the south, and from the seven seas of the world, we extend "fresh" corporations a hearty welcome to this great opportunity.

Home About Us This month Previous Issues ... Contact us Editorial June 2003 Associations Related to Indian Fisheries Sector Marine and inland fisheries sectors of India have grown several fold in the past over five decades. Annual fish production from inland fishery sector rose from 2.18 lakh t in 1950-51 to 3.0 million t in 2001-02. So far as annual marine fish production is concerned, it went up from 5.34 lakh t in 1950-51 to 2.3 million t in 2001-02. Exports moved up from 57,819 t valued at Rs. 463.31 crores in 1989-90 to 400,000 t valued at over Rs. 6050 crores in 2001-02. 73. DEVELOPMENT PACES OF VIETNAM'S FISHERIES
with an establishment and development of State administration agencies of the fisheries sector, mass organizations and professional associations of fishermen
http://www.fistenet.gov.vn/english/TSVN/Ptnghecata.htm
DEVELOPMENT PACES OF VIETNAM'S FISHERIES Exploitation of fisheries resources for serving people's diversified demands such as food, jewellery and medicine started for long time ago. Going through thousands of years, Vietnam's fisheries, especially fishing, has still had typical characteristics of self-provided and self-sufficient production and it has only took part in people's life as by-trade. Until the first half of the twentieth century, the fisheries were still very rudimentary and backward and it was not considered as economic sector. After 1954, together with recovery and development of economy in the Northern part, fisheries was highly appreciated by great contribution to the national economy. Vietnam's Government paid much attention to fisheries development. A Fisheries Department under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MOAF), that was the first state administration agency on fisheries, was established. It marked a new point of view of Vietnam's fisheries. Southern fishing corporations came into being in turn in the Northern part of Vietnam. Fourth of fishermen in the North adhered to co-operatives as well. Thanks to assistance from former socialist countries, the Ha Long fish canned factory, in which there was fishing fleet where Vietnam-Germany fishing unit was main force, was established in 1957. It was Ha Long factory that was the first industrial production units of the North's fisheries. Many generations of staff working in fisheries were trained here.
