Four people who subjected mice, a guinea pig and a kitten to "abject cruelty" as they tortured and then killed them for an obscene video have been jailed. Ringleader Craig Chapman, 27, paid Christine Besford, 26, Sarah Cooke, 22, and Tharaza Smallwood, 22, between £100 and £700 each for taking part in the filming.
During the sick film Chapman can be heard giving instructions to the co-accused
Judge Granville Styler He had told someone he met over the internet that he could supply videos depicting scenes of animal torture. The video showed small animals being injured with high heels and what prosecutor Peter Cooper said was one scene "of an overtly sexual nature" involving a mouse taped to a wooden board. The worst footage showed the killing of a kitten with its hind leg glued to a wooden board.

(alphabetical and illustrated) A A -B B ... -Z Oftentimes, film-making terms are not clearly defined for the average person. In order to be knowledgeable about the movie-making art form and the techniques of cinema, one must understand the fundamental vocabulary and language of film studies. Therefore, some of the most basic and common terms are defined in this compendium for reference. Simple definitions are provided for often complex terms as a baseline for media literacy. Illustrations are provided with many of the terms, to help describe them more fully. This is not a complete collection of all film-making terms, because so many of them are too obscure or technical to be included. However, this listing should provide enough background for a majority of the important terms, and prompt the reader to research them further. Tips for Critically Viewing Films is also provided by this site. When discussing film and the creative craft of film-making, many of these terms are used to describe the complicated and expensive process or task of making movies - from conception to finished product.

Good Morning Class! Now a famous film-maker a while back said something about 'Everything you need to know about film you can learn in a week.' He was being generous. You can learn it in 10 minutes. Set your watches we will be out of here in ten kids. Okay, so you wanna be a film-maker?
(Class choruses 'YES')
Wrong! You ARE a film-maker. The moment you think about that you want to be a fillm-maker you're that. Make yourself a business card that says you're a film-maker, pass them out to your friends, soon as you get that over with and you've got it in your mind that you're one you'll be one, you'll start thinking like one. Don't dream about being a film-maker, you are a film-maker. Now let's get down to business. Let's Play!! What you need to learn is that being creative is not enough in this business. You have to become techinical. Creative people are born creative - you're lucky. Technical people however can never be creative. Its something they'll never get. You can't buy it, find it, study it - you're born with it. Too many creative people don't want to learn how to be technical, so what happens? they become dependent on technical people. Become technical, you can learn that. If you're creative and technical, you're unstoppable.

You've got a movie to make. You're busy! So before we waste any of your time, let us tell you whether or not we can help you produce the next Brothers McMullen or Blair Witch Project . First, we're assuming that you've written or obtained a screenplay. Secondly, we're assuming that you will be able to procure (from parents, friends, credit cards, theft, etc.) at least $15,000. If you don't have $15,000 or more . . . sorry, but miracle workers we're not. If you've got the script and the money, we can help you. We're going to tell you how to navigate the three major steps involved with making any movie: pre-production, production, and post-production. If you follow our advice (and have any talent), you'll be ready for the film festival circuit, fame, and riches. Oh, and maybe a cocaine habit too if it all works out. The first step in making your movie is putting everything in place before you ever have a camera: polishing your script, finding actors, rehearsing, and putting together a team of technical folk who can work the scary machines like cameras, tape recorders, and lights. This is what's known as pre-production.

Award winning labour of love documentary by director/cinematographer Charles Barbee, about the classic science fiction film by Douglas Trumbull. Details and comments from viewers.
http://www.barbeefilm.com/tmsr01.htm
The Making Of "SILENT RUNNING"
The Making of 'Silent Running' is an award winning documentary film about the first directorial effort of Douglas Trumbull, the brilliant special effects master who's credits include "2001, A Space Odyssey", "Andromedia Strain", "Blade Runner", "Brainstorm", "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" and "Star Trek, The Motion Picture", just to name a few. It is an intimate portrait of Doug and his work, early in his career. In addition the documentary gives an up close and personal look at the entire production team of 'Silent Running' The Making of 'Silent Running' won a number of film festival awards when it was first released in the early '70's, including the CINE GOLDEN EAGLE. At the time video cassette distribution wasn't feasable because VHS didn't exist, so educational distribution (in 16mm print form only) was the only outlet. The documentary has lain dormant since the late '70's when the print distribution agreement with Films Incorporated expired. In May of 2002, Universal Studios released a "COLLECTORS EDITION" DVD of the full wide-screen version of "Silent Running", including a full version of the above documentary, as well as the usual director's and actor's comentary tracks, collections of still pictures, etc. The 50 minute documentary is a true collectors item for film buffs and science fiction fans and it, alone, is worth the price of the new DVD. You can find this DVD at some retail outlets or you can order it from Yahoo at the following URL:
