Making the Film is a project that I have set up to document my transition into the world of film-making from an unrelated background. The project will culminate with the production of a low-budget feature film. The film will put into practice all the advice and tips I will undoubtedly pick up along the way. Latest News : New Article Uploaded on Motivation and People Management. Click here to see what people are saying about MakingTheFilm.Com. This web site has been split into five main themes. Firstly, the Diary , which I tend to update every time something interesting happens, or a milestone is met. The second theme is the Quick-Start Guide to Filmmaking . As I pick up excellent filmmaking tips from the pros, I will add them to this guide, which itself is constantly undergoing changes as the guide moves from an assorted collection of tips to a small guide for filmmakers. The third part of the site is the Interviews section. This began quietly, but has progressed beyond all expectation. You can find interviews with BAFTA nominees, festival organisers, special effects experts, and much more. The fourth part (and new as of Sep-03) is the Films section; this lists all the films I have heard about that sound like they would be of interest to young filmmakers. The final part of the site will be

Stop Making Sense (1984) White Sneakers, Big Suit Stop Making Sense , the 1984 Talking Heads movie, is a masterpiece of the concert film genre. Conceived for the stage by lead singer David Byrne, and directed by Jonathan Demme ( Silence of the Lambs Philadelphia , and Swimming to Cambodia ), the film is a visionary presentation of stage performance, sound, rhythm, choreography, and soul. The film begins when Byrne, wearing a gray suit and impeccably white sneakers, walks onto the barren center stage and sets a boom box down on the floor. "Hi. I've got a tape I want to play," he says, as if the crowd consisted of three friends sitting on his living room couch. As the opening beats of "Psycho Killer" emerge from the tape player, the camera slowly rises from Byrne's tapping sneaker to his guitar, and then up to his head, which bobs hypnotically to the music. Stop Making Sense contains well-edited footage from three concerts. It eschews elaborate sets, long-winded speeches, and special effects, and relies instead on Demme's minimalist camera skills and the band's considerable performing capabilities. Three of the band membersByrne, bassist Tina Weymouth, and drummer Chris Frantzattended the Rhode Island School of Design, which may be why the set looks so good.

Facts, Faith, and Film-Making:
Jesus’ Passion and Its Portrayal
A Study Guide for Viewers and Reviewers
This guide is intended for anyone who sees or hears a portrayal of Jesus’ Passion – the suffering Jesus underwent in the final hours of his life, when he was arrested, condemned, and crucified. To understand the Passion, you do not need special training or advanced learning; nor will you need them for this guide. We offer you some background on the challenges of telling the Passion story, as well as some hints for how to hear or watch it. The Passion story has a long history. For Christians, it is a source of life and salvation. For Jews, it has led to condemnation and violent attacks. It is Jesus’ Passion, but it also brings out passion (strong feeling) in those who hear and view it. That passion should be directed to living in the way Jesus taught and should never again be directed against Jews as a group or individually. The Christian Scholars Group

Smyth, 1988, p. 285 At the end of the Second World War, the film initiative shifted from war propaganda to development in the colonies. Prior to the war, Britain had a poor record of promoting development in its colonies, and this record had been criticised by Germany war propaganda as well as by the United States. The US, which emerged as the dominant superpower after the war was keen to promote economic development and political stability in the Third World, so as to avoid losing the new states to the Soviet communist bloc ( So, 1990

by: Brent hey everyone, it's been nearly a month since our last post so I decided to update about a few things First on the agend, the demonicpillbug forums . It would be really cool if we could get those up and hoppin again like the old days. So, if you're a member and have something you want to talk about, go post it. If you're not a member then you'll be labeled crazy uncool until you are. I'd get on it right away. Next I want to talk about my projects . Right now I'm working on an Ikaruga clone and after I finish that I should hopefully be working on strictly 3D stuff from then on. Expect cool things to come out over this summer. Also, not much has been mentioned about here. There were alot of great games and such but the main one that I fell in love with was the new Zelda . Man, oh man, it looks like the type of game people wanted years ago before they decided to go with the cell-shaded one. And with that, I'm done. To recap:

Synopsis It's a long time since Rick Privet, PI, was at the top of his game but the stench of fetid rodent isn't something you forget. When the sultry but aloof Violet Crawford asks him to find her missing dot com millionaire husband he knows she's trouble, from the heel of her Prada pump to the tip of her razor-wire tongue. Seduced by their battle of wits Rick takes her case and is not surprised to find that underneath the new millennium veneer of internet commerce lies good old fashioned graft and corruption. But Rick soon finds that walking in with your eyes open doesn't mean you can see in the dark and even the love of his loyal girlfriend, Rose, is not enough to save him when the trail leads back to his own past.

Kimberly Peirce October 22, 1999
Web posted at: 2:51 p.m. EDT (1851 GMT) By Jamie Allen CNN Interactive Senior Writer (CNN) Standing outside the door of a small house in the middle of nowhere, Nebraska, filmmaker Kimberly Peirce was obsessed. And that's putting it lightly. In fact, her obsession with the search for answers to a hate crime had brought her halfway across the country to this place. It had started two years earlier. While taking graduate film classes at Columbia in New York, she'd read in an April 1994 issue of The Village Voice about the life and death of Teena Brandon or Brandon Teena, as she came to be known.
