What is Fibromyalgia?

Fibromyalgia (FM) is an increasingly recognized chronic pain illness which is characterized by widespread musculoskeletal aches, pain and stiffness, soft tissue tenderness, general fatigue and sleep disturbances. The most common sites of pain include the neck, back, shoulders, pelvic girdle and hands, but any body part can be involved. Fibromyalgia patients experience a range of symptoms of varying intensities that wax and wane over time. Who is affected? It is estimated that approximately 3-6% of the U.S. population has FM. Although a higher percentage of women are affected, it does strike men, women and children of all ages and races. Because of its debilitating nature, Fibromyalgia has a serious impact on patients' family, friends, and employers, as well as society at large. What are the symptoms?

A Patient's Frequently Asked Questions about Fibromyalgia
By: David Nye MD (nyeda@uwec.edu)
What is fibromyalgia?
Fibromyalgia is a common and disabling disorder affecting 2-4% of the population, women more often than men. Despite the condition's frequency, the diagnosis is often missed. Patients with fibromyalgia usually ache all over, sleep poorly, are stiff on waking, and are tired all day. They are prone to headaches, memory and concentration problems, dizziness, numbness and tingling, itching, fluid retention, crampy abdominal or pelvic pain and diarrhea, and several other symptoms. There are no diagnostic lab or x-ray abnormalities, but a physician can confirm the diagnosis by finding tender points in characteristic locations. Fibromyalgia often runs in families, suggesting an inherited predisposition. It may lie dormant until triggered by an infection, injury, stress, or sleep disturbance. It is closely related to the chronic fatigue and irritable bowel syndromes and to migraines. Some have suggested that these are all just different facets of the same underlying disorder.
What causes it?

Intravenous Hydrogen Peroxide for CFIDS and FM
Giving hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) intravenously may sound crazy but it is a very safe and effective treatment for CFIDS and FM. This is a form of oxidative treatment, which includes ultraviolet blood irradiation, ozone and hydrogen peroxide. The oxidative treatments kill bacteria, viruses and yeast and have been shown to be extremely safe and effective for decades. Studies have shown these treatments to be far superior to antibiotics as well as being safer and without the problematic side effects of antibiotic treatment. Read more...

I have undergone a therapy that has given me my life back. The treatment requires being briefly placed under anesthesia for five days so muscles can be stretched and manipulated, removing fibro adhesions and restoring the pathway for oxygen to enter the muscles.
I have gone from home bound to being active in life again. My tenderpoints and triggerpoints are gone.
I use to get very frustrated when I read of peoples claims to getting well. But, here I am to share what I and others have had done and we are all feeling alive again I just want to let others know there is a treatment that stops the pain and suffering.

Irritable Bowel It is the purpose of our presence on the World Wide Web to disseminate information that is accurate and beneficial in improving the quality of life for those suffering from fibromyalgia. We no longer have to live with practitioners or care givers that do not believe this to be a real entity because its existence is recognized throughout the world medical community. Fibromyalgia is due respect. Irritable bowel, migraine headache, interstitial cystitis, and chronic fatigue are also emerging as specific disease entities with common links to fibromyalgia that can aid not only in diagnosis but also intreatment. We hope to utilize the World Wide Web not only to improve treatment, but also to facilitate better understanding of these diseases for both the patient and care practitioner. The fibromyalgia web page will repeatedly emphasize the necessity of being treated by credible individuals, using appropriate therapies and maintaining high levels of ethical accountability. This does not deny the consideration of alternative therapy (we will assume this to be non-allopathic). Treatments of promise will be presented when there is clear utility for individuals suffering from any of these Fibro Five diseases.

Arthritis affects nearly 43 million Americans. Yet because of misperceptions about the disease, many people never seek appropriate medical care. They believe they are too young to be affected or they may believe that arthritis is "just something you have to learn to live with." While it is true there is no cure for arthritis (just as there is no cure for diabetes or hypertension), there are effective treatments available and measures that can be taken to protect muscles, bones and joints.
