UNCONSOLIDATED PENNSYLVANIA STATUTES
A website written and maintained by Thomas E. Martin, Jr., Esq.
This page links laws of Pennsylvania enacted by the legislature, both the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes and unconsolidated statutes, arranged according to their customary citation. If the statute you want is not yet listed here, it should be available in the future, so check back. For information on Statutory Citation in Pennsylvania, click here! For six years this website has made available, free of charge, legal information which we believe is valuable to a wide variety of users and is nowhere else available on the web. Every month over 10,000 people use it. However, the work is not funded by any government subsidy. Therefore, requests for printed copies of these statutes or for ones not yet posted here cannot be filled. Similarly, we cannot provide free legal research services or provide free legal opinions. We do not have time to answer and will not respond to emails seeking these. Thank you for understanding.
A word of caution is in order: The laws of each state are different. The following Pennsylvania statutes, though available instantaneously over the web, may not be the current law. We attempt to post statutes which, at the time of posting, have not been repealed, the date of posting usually being referenced at the bottom of each page. However, court decisions overturning them, later statutes amending them, and a host of other factors come into play when interpreting them. They are provided here only as one resource among many available and should not be relied upon by anyone in matters of importance.

State Lemon Law Statutes
Think your Car is a Lemon? Your State may agree, but maybe not to your liking. See how your State defines what a Lemon is and if your Car and its Repair History qualify. Nearly all State Lemon Law Statutes are similar to the Federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act which makes breach of warranty a violation of federal law. All States have enacted their own Warranty Acts and many States have enacted specific Statutes that pertain to Automobile Warranties. If your car is not considered a "lemon" in your State, you do have other recourses. Lemon Law Summaries - Lemon Law Summaries for each State.

What is a Lemon?
A vehicle that continues to have a defect that substantially impairs its use, value, or safety. Generally, if the car has been repaired 4 or more times for the same Defect within the Warranty Period and the Defect has not been fixed, the car qualifies as a Lemon. All States differ so you should consult the Lemon Law Summary and the State Statutes for your particular State. Note that the warranty period may or may not coincide with the Manufacturer's Warranty.

Attorney at Law
It would be very convenient if all state and federal codes, statutes, and caselaw were available on the World Wide Web. This would give lay people easy access to the laws that they must follow and it would allow attorneys to do legal research without having to leave their office to go to a law library, or pay for expensive collections of casebooks. Unfortunately, economic realities dictate that we may never see all of the substantive law of all the states on the Web. Several states receive quite a bit of income by selling the exclusive rights to publish that state's caselaw. In addition, it is quite expensive to publish and maintain a web site, and money for such a project is not available in all states. Caselaw on the Web ideally would include decisions from at least the last 30 years, a sophistocated search engine for locating relevant law, case summaries, headnotes, etc. Providing all of these on a Web site would be very expensive. Given the above, it is impressive how much substantive law

Overview of the Federal Anti-Bootleg Statute
With President Clinton's signing of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) in December 1994, a federal anti-bootleg statute was created. Up until then, generally only state statutes had been available to law enforcement and the RIAA's anti-piracy unit to protect artists' recording rights against bootleggers. Like the pre-existing state statutes, the new federal statute criminalizes the unauthorized manufacture, distribution or trafficking in sound recordings and music videos of "live" musical performances. However, the federal statute also provides for the seizure of bootleg recordings or music videos manufactured outside the United States by U.S. Customs at the point of importation. In effect, bootleg recordings are now subject to seizure and forfeiture in the same manner as other property in violation of customs laws. The maximum penalties for violating the new law are imprisonment up to 10 years and/or a fine of $250,000. The RIAA's anti-piracy unit coordinates the initial examination of product on behalf of the recording industry. If you wish to report suspected bootleg recordings, call RIAA at 1-800-BAD-BEAT and ask for the Customs Desk or e-mail us at

Memory is therefore a key to responsible action....Romanticism is a fantasized version of the past. Unpleasant events and personal or national failures are erased, while comforts and successes are exaggerated. Or wrongs may be exaggerated and comforts and successes erased. On either side romanticism is intended to energize false hopes. In its most exaggerated form it denies the relevance of memory and constructs free-standing abstract ideologies. - John Ralston Saul what's new at this archive, the last modification having been made on 27 November, 2001 (always check what's new first!!), or go to the top of the archive
