The appellate judiciary we serve today includes not only the Supreme Court but the Colorado Court of Appeals as well. The library also serves the state's district and county courts, numerous state agencies and is open to the public.
Collection
The Colorado Supreme Court Library holds all fifty state statutes and session laws, all regional reporters, pre-regional reports, the federal statutes, federal regulations and all federal reporters. Some highlights of the collection include Colorado statutes and cases from the territorial period forward, numerous Colorado municipal codes and Colorado legal treatises and directories. The library is also a depository for State Justice Institute publications as well as a repository for the Colorado Women's Bar Association collection. Since 1978 the library has been a partial federal depository focusing on materials such as federal administrative agency decisions, presidential documents, and items offered by various federal agencies such as the U.S. Department of Justice, Internal Revenue Service, U.S. Department of Transportation and the Census Bureau.

    INTRODUCTION
Statutes Regulations Court Cases Opinions The WOMEN'S RIGHTS Handbook is intended to provide the general public with a basic understanding of the rights of women in California. This handbook describes both California and federal laws that deal with issues important to most women. This handbook is not meant to be used in the place of a qualified attorney. If you feel that your rights have been violated, you should seek qualified legal assistance. For information on how to find an attorney, see the "Directory of Services" at the back of this book. The handbook is divided into eight chapters which discuss the legal rights of the women of California - - employment, economic independence, education, housing, health care, domestic relations, childcare and violent crime, and a directory of services. Each chapter discusses your rights with respect to the designated topic, and provides information on where you can seek help if you feel that your rights have been violated. The directory is an extended resource section that provides information on a wide range of resources available to women in California. The directory is not a complete list of every women's organization in California. However, many of the organizations listed can help by referring you to an organization that will address your specific question or problem.

About the Bluebook Bluebook Layout Citing Cases ... Tidbits
    Citing Statutes
    The Rule
Bluebook Rule 12 covers how statutes should be cited in legal documents.
    What is a Code?
All statutes, whether state or federal, are published in books called codes. A code is simply a systematic compilation of laws that a legislature has passed. Most codes compile laws by titles or subject matter. Note: Like cases, statutes can be published in official codes and unofficial codes. Always cite to an official code source wherever possible.
Jurisdiction Tables and Abbreviations: Table T.1
One of the keys to citing statutes properly is knowing where to find the proper legal citation abbreviations. In the Bluebook , all abbreviations are listed in the blue pages, which begin on page 183. Table T.1 is the most important section of the Bluebook 's blue pages . This table provides the reporter names and abbreviations, statutory compilation names and abbreviations, and citation conventions for all federal and state courts. The following chart summarizes Table T.1, including where to find statutory compilation and abbreviation information for all federal and state courts in the country.

    • Introduction This pathfinder focuses on locating state and federal statutes. Print sources available at the University of Minnesota Law Library and resources available on the web (both subscription/fee-based and "free" resources) are covered. For a detailed discussion of the legislative process and legislative history research, consult the sources listed in the Guides to Legislative Process and Legislative History Research at the end of this pathfinder. Session Laws Legislative bodies, such as Congress and state legislatures, meet periodically in what are generically referred to as "legislative sessions" to consider and pass legislation. Bills that are eventually enacted into law during a legislative session are generically referred to as "session laws". Typically, for each legislative session, these laws are sequentially numbered. Thereafter, they are usually referred to by the legislative session of their enactment and their sequential number. A Federal session law is called a "Public Law". Public Laws are referred to by the congress in which they are enacted and their sequential number. For example in the citation:
