happy fathers' day
we would like to wish our dads each a happy fathers' day. we're not sure if they will read this because we know how much trouble it has been to teach them to use the "confounded, new-fangled internet" [their words], but if they have learned, and they do read this, we wish them the very best! and in honor of father's day and golf (a sport every father loves), we'd like to now make our much anticipated prediction for most dominant male golfer during the next calendar year. the competitors who comprise the fields in each week's tournaments are so evenly matched, our choice is, by no means, clear cut. but based on astrological readings and by being in touch with PGA karma, we're going to go ahead and say: tiger woods . we predict tiger to be the most dominant male golfer during the next calendar year. so, with that sleeper prediction, you can now go out and bet with confidence. you don't have to thank us. its the least we could do to thank you for the tireless, thankless hours of work you put in to teach us not to throw a ball like a girl (and other things relating to manliness).

I was reading the book I Cried, You Didn't Listen and envied the comfort and safety the author, Dwight E. Abbott, had felt with his father. I envied the relationship with his father the author's son described in a poem.
I use the word envy because I've learned envy is for what you never had, jealous is for what you're afraid of losing or have lost. I've learned to acknowledge feeling envy, then anger that I never had that, and I eventually get to grateful that caring fathers existuntil the next time my sadness and longing is triggered.
The work I'm doing has me praying for my father. At first I said, "The hell with this shit. I'm not praying for him." But it's part of the program and it dawned on me why it works. If I can take down the barriers/resentments I built to protect myself from Dad, then my spirit can open up to new relationships.
The only prayer I could stomach for my Dad is, "God, please save my Dad from all I wish for him."

Letter to the Editor FATHERS DAY, 1991 It has been over 3 1/2 years since I have had any meaningful conversation with my son, John - He is bitter and hateful and would like to see me dead. This he confirmed in writing to be sure I understood. The pain for me does not lessen with the days, months and years that pass by, but the toleration of this p becomes easier. This is divorce Montgomery County sty Lots of pain and suffering caused by elongated and complicated court proceedings to boost legal fees. I had a good father and mother and lived in a large, stable Italian family where much love was outwardly shown and self-confidence was groomed. The child needs his father as a role model to give him values of strength, conviction, courage and respect which is essential to develop a stable character. My son, John, will never know his father or his love or what his manly role in society is.. .having only dealt with his mother. This aspect is already evident in his verbal skills of attack not matched by actions of successful achievement. Friends say he will make contact when he’s ready and when he realizes how he was misguided. Maybe so, but what about his root structure? Will he have strength of character and show courage under fire? Will he be able to say no to drugs, alcohol or excesses? Will he have a healthy relationship with women?

A FATHERS LOVE I remember the day you were born my little one. I did not know if you would be a daughter or a son. But it did not matter to me I would always love you. I would try to be a father that you could love to. A father had to do things sometimes that you did not understand. But as you were growing up I tried to always hold your hand. I tried to teach you what was wrong and what was right. And sometimes we would disagree and we would fight. But through all these many years of growing for you. You have made me very proud in all that you do. My love for you does not end because my life here is no more. And for you my love will forever and ever soar. A fathers love is so very special and it mends a broken heart. A fathers love is with you and it will never part. A fathers love is free no price on it could you place. A fathers love is given with beauty and grace. ~Thank you sis Barb for this wonderful poem~

Mullet Wigs
"Business in the front, party in the back." Ah, the timelessness of the mullet haircut frightening in any era. Mullet Wigs are for those who don't wish to inflict this haircut on their own glorious locks, but occassionally like to take a walk on the party side. And yes, I've found a site that sells not one, but FOUR different styles of the Mullet Wig . There's the Landscaper, the Trash, the Class of 1987, and so the gals can join in on the fun, the Female Mullet. The styles feature various hair colors, lengths, and volumes of "party hair". And once you've picked out your mullet wig, buy the fake pin through the nose gag combine the two for a truly alarming look. Okay, maybe not. Price: (At the time of this review)

Quotes About Dads
The fundamental defect of fathers is that they want their children to be a credit to them.
Bertrand Russell The father is always a Republican toward his son, and his mother's always a Democrat.
Robert Frost For thousands of years, father and son have stretched wistful hands across the canyon of time, each eager to help the other to his side, but neither quite able to desert the loyalties of his contemporaries. The relationship is always changing and hence always fragile; nothing endures except the sense of difference.
Alan Valentine It is a wise father that knows his own child.
William Shakespeare I cannot think of any need in childhood as strong as the need for a father's protection.
Sigmumd Freud To be a successful father... there's one absolute rule: when you have a kid, don't look at it for the first two years.
Ernest Hemingway "If the new American father feels bewildered and even defeated, let him take comfort from the fact that whatever he does in any fathering situation has a fifty percent chance of being right."

A Letter to Dad
by John B. Isom
Dear Dad,
The third reason I am glad you are my father is because you taught me to appreciate the dignity of honest toil. You made me feel there is nothing more honorable than manual labor. My work today consists of doing things that do not require me to get my hands dirty. I am not yet able to think of my work as being quiet as honorable and as worthy of the rewards that should be given those who work with their hands. Calloused hands, or a shirt wet with sweat, still seem to me to be symbols of high honor.
Were you to take an inspection tour through the communities where I have lived since I left home, for the purpose of checking up on my conduct, I am confident you would not find any unpaid bills or debts, and I feel you would find a good report as to my personal conduct and honesty. Yet, I wonder if I am as honest in the impersonal things of life as I believe my record would prove when limited to personal things?
For example, this week, beginning tomorrow at 9:00 A.M., we will conduct a Vacation Bible School in our church for all the children between the ages of 4 and 17. In the opening exercises of this school we will march in and have the students stand at attention, salute the United States flag, and give the pledge, which is:
"I pledge allegiance to the flag

Tracy Ledgerwood
In 1960 Missouri held its first turkey season. Turkeys had been reintroduced to the state five years earlier and were now considered to be at a huntable population. My father Wayne Gendron was twenty-one years old. Hunting on his uncle's farm in St. Genevieve County, he was one of the 98 successful out of 698 hunters attempting to harvest a turkey during the Missouri turkey season. Wayne loved to hunt and was good at it, having an uncanny ability to hunt wild turkeys. These skills eventually landed him a job with a newly formed Quaker Boy Game Calls. Hunting was his life, as hundreds of turkeys became victim to him or someone he was guiding.
Then in the fall of 1980, something else happened that consumed him and his heart... a baby girl named Tracy. Suddenly his thoughts changed to plans of sharing his love of the outdoors with his little daughter. He wanted her to understand his passion for the outdoors and to get all the enjoyment out of it that he had. The first couple years of this little girl's life was spent exploring nature through the wild game her father brought home. She could identify a varmint by its stretched pelt, would pet the deer and turkey that were brought home by her father and his friends, and could cast the plug on her Snoopy fishing rod across the backyard. Each time Wayne brought an animal home, he patiently took special time to teach her about it, showing her spurs and claws while explaining the purpose that they held for each animal.

Observers avoid (emotional) attachment. They focus on gaining knowledge as a way of making sense of the world. Observers can be retracted, overly self-controlled, detached from their emotions. Seventh-day Adventist’s teach that Sunday worshippers ARE THE Mark Of The Beast. Recent converts are either unaware, or unwilling to accept the official historic position of their church. Although their first reaction is, "My church doesn’t teach that!" read the proof for yourself! It is still the official teaching today, except they teach it with flowery speech! Proof the official doctrine of the Seventh-day Adventist churches is that the Mark of the beast is those who worship on Sunday.
