BA (Hons) Fashion (Menswear, Womenswear, Textiles, Promotion)
Why should I apply to Ravensbourne? Fashion at Ravensbourne enjoys an international reputation and offers one of the best educations for creative and dedicated students. The programme places a high emphasis on innovation, creativity and close links with contemporary designers and companies. Students are selected for their individualism, opinions and potential for development.
How many places are offered? For the 2 year structure, 15 places. For the 3 year structure, 30. Transfers between the 2nd year and 3rd year programmes are not permissable.
Do you only accept first choice applicants? Entry is through application to UCAS Route B. We interview every first- choice applicant with their portfolio, to meet the individual and discuss the portfolio. We usually fill both programmes on first-round interviews, but depending on the number and/or quality of applications, we interview a few second-choice applicants. Most of our students visited Ravensbourne during the Open Days schedule. If you're serious about us, it is well worth your time and effort to come in, have a look around, look at the students' work, talk with students and staff. We are confident that this will help you decide where is best for you.

http://www.uri.edu/hss/tmd/BSTMD.html
Department of Textiles, Fashion Merchandising and Design BS Textiles, Fashion Merchandising and Design This degree is no longer included in the NEBHE program There are four options within the TMD major [ Fashion Merchandising, Apparel Studies, Textile Science, Interior Furnishings and Design] . I nterested prospective students should review the Program Requirements , List of TMD courses, and the Advising Guide The Fashion Merchandising option is designed for those interested in fashion coordination, buying, and retail management. Students take courses in textiles with supporting coursework in marketing, management, consumer studies, or art. They study the successful selling of apparel and home furnishings to the consumer and the buying, promotion, and sale of goods and services. They are also familiar with fashion trends and consumer behavior. Internships are important, and more of these students are choosing to study abroad during their college career. The flexibility in the program again allows a concentration of courses in other areas such as consumer education, or journalism. Particular courses which relate to this option are fashion buying, retailing and store operations. The Fashion Merchandising Society offers students extracurricular activities relating to their field including speakers, bus trips to apparel markets, and the staging of at least one fashion show each year. Students can also concentrate in Apparel Studies . In this area students analyze sewn products, and explore apparel production, fashion design, flat pattern and draping. The laboratories are equipped with Pattern Works' "PW Pattern" CAD system for pattern making, grading and marker making. The courses are supplemented with others in fashion merchandising, theater costuming, historic costume and business. Many students in this option study for a semester at the London College of Fashion or the American Intercontinental University, or intern with apparel manufacturers in New York City.

  • The Library Catalogue is a database of the books, journals, and other materials held in the University Library system. It covers stock held in the Martindale Library, the Edinburgh Campus Library (including the Arco Library in the Petroleum Engineering Department), and the departmental library in the International Centre for Island Technology on the Orkney Campus.
The Catalogue should be the starting point for any "literature search". Books provide a useful overview of a subject, and often include "references", which indicate other sources of information on the subject. The Library purchases many of the key text books relating to textiles, so you should find a comprehensive selection available through the Catalogue.
