‘If you’ve always secretly yearned to design and draw fashion as well as sell it, here’s your chance to get started’ – Womenswear Buyer
Organized into units to reflect the courses of top design colleges, this book covers every aspect of fashion illustration, from finding the inspiration for fabulous designs to the techniques that will allow you to put your ideas across with irresistible effect.
Long before they were let loose on the fashion world, designers like Alexander McQueen and Tom Ford began by mastering the art of refining ideas on the page. The Fashion Design Drawing Course will steer you safely through the perilous catwalk of fashion illustration, so that catching the essence of a design, the swirl of a fabric, and the intensity of colour will become suddenly, brilliantly possible.
• Introduces the reader to the fundamentals of mark-making, composition, space and form
• Explains how to convey instantly the key shapes and moods of a theme
• 24 step-by-step units examine the art of fashion illustration, with examples from top designers and outstanding students

About us July 18, 2002 Of the New-age careers, Fashion Designing is among the most popular. And why not, with it being associated with the some of the most wanted possessions - glamour, money and fame. A Hemant Trivedi, Ritu Beri, Manish Malhotra or Rohit Bal today possess all of this, and the only way ahead for them is the way up the ladder. CAD involves the development of a central design description on which all applications in design and manufacture should feed. This implies that computer-based techniques for the analysis and simulation of the design, and for the generation of manufacturing instructions should be closely integrated with the techniques for modeling the form and structure of the design. In addition, a central design description forms an excellent basis for the concurrent development of all aspects of a design in simultaneous engineering activities. The key to the fashion business is in the balance between technology and the creative people who use it. Even design schools realize that, and are adopting technology into their curriculum.

Grading Techniques for Fashion Design > Customer Review #1: A very pleased customer

This book is not only an introduction to the amateur covering basic grading techniques on simple garments. It is a complete guide to grading womens clothes covering every possible style for the misses and junior size garments. Additional information on grading women and menswear size garments is also included. I am not an expert on the field of grading and this is why this book by J. Price and B. Zamkoff (who teach in the FIT) has proved to be of great help to me, as it is full of simple step by step instructions combined with many many clear diagrams. This is definitely a very practical book.
