Our faculty apply the sciences of demography, developmental psychology, epidemiology, sociology, health services research, medicine, nursing, nutrition, economics, communication sciences, policy analysis, and related disciplines to research and professional practice. academic programs. We offer master of health science (MHS), doctorate (PhD), and doctor of public health (DrPH) degree programs. Educational programs are delivered by the county Extension educators and focus on strengthening and sustaining families within the the community. A goal for this department is to develop a Master's Degree program. It is anticipated that students can be admitted to this program by Fall 2004. Most recently (Feb. 04) the proposal was approved at the University Administrative Council and now has 4 more hoops- the Dean's Council, the Chancellor, the Board of Trustees, and the Office of the President for the UNC system. The areas listed below are the major program areas in Family and Consumer Sciences.
