In response to the Teacher Training Agency's Standards for ICT, the Social Science Partnership tutors at the School of Education, University of Leicester decided to incorporate an extra dimension to the worksheet assignment which the social science student teachers completed as part of their assessment. From the 1999-2000 intake onwards, the student teachers would be required to post up a worksheet on the Internet as part of their assignment. The worksheets would be freely available for anyone to download and use. They are organised by subjects. To access any worksheet, just follow the appropriate links.

Adoption Studies/Adoption Science
During the twentieth century, child adoption was reimagined in scientific terms, as a social experiment and human laboratory that could produce knowledge as well as help children. Researchers were persuaded that adoption could answer basic scientific questions about development, nature and nurture, and family norms. Professionals and parents were persuaded that scientific research would improve family-making by minimizing risks and maximizing safety. Adoption has been the subject of four major types of empirical research: field studies outcome studies nature-nurture studies , and psychopathology studies . Chronological lists of studies can be found by clicking on the preceding links. Descriptions of particular studies, and excerpts from them, can be found by using the links in the table below. Social Science Index Lesson In the introduction to the Social Sciences Index we discover that it indexes English language material from the fields of anthropology, area studies, community health and medical care, criminal justice and criminology, economics, family studies, geography, gerontology, international relations, law, minority studies, planning and public administration, policy sciences, political science, psychiatry, psychology, social work and public welfare, sociology, urban studies, women's studies, and related subjects. As we can see, social science covers a rather large area of study. Looking in the 1996-1997 volume of the Social Sciences Index we find subject entries for "Bioengineered foods" and "Plant genetics" but there are no articles listed under these headings. This is understandable given the scope of the indexthese subject categories do not lend themselves overly to a social science perspective. However, if we stopped here we would miss some important information. We must think of another way to approach our topic. Our chosen research topic deals with food, and food is very often examined from sociological, anthropological and political perspectives. So let's take a look to see if there are any good articles indexed under the subject heading "Food." We see a number of cross-reference headings and then we see a subheading for "Food-Biotechnology." The two articles listed under this heading may be of interest to us. One article deals with issues related to the labeling of foods derived from biotechnology, and the other focuses on the controversy caused by the importation of American genetically engineered beans into Europe. The first article comes from a political science journal (

A display, challenge or competition are draw cards. Food is a great incentive. We had a dinner pack of sausages, drink, cake and fruit as part of the price. This enables fathers to come home from work, pick up the kids and bring them to school for tea and family activities. Parents club volunteers purchased and cooked the food. Tickets were $10.00 for 2-3 people and $15.00 for 4 or more people. Organization A timetabled structure is important. Colour coded tickets with the different order of events helped guide people.
