Safety on the Family Farm
With more than 350 locations across rural America, Cargill is deeply connected to the people who live, work and raise families on our nation's farms. In 1992, after several farming accidents and fatalities near Cargill facilities, Cargill realized that it needed to do something to promote safety on the family farm. Since that time, Cargill has been the leading corporate sponsor for Farm Safety 4 Just Kids (FS4JK), contributing more than $700,000. In 1997, Cargill joined other concerned businesses to sponsor the Progressive Farmer Farm Safety Day Camps. In addition, hundreds of Cargill employees have been directly involved with farm safety programs in their communities.
Farm Safety 4 Just Kids
Farm Safety 4 Just Kids (FS4JK) is a nonprofit organization based in Iowa serving communities throughout the United States and Canada. FS4JK's main objectives are to reduce the high number of farm-related injuries and deaths involving children each year, increase public awareness and understanding of the hazards to youth on the farm and provide individuals, families and communities with appropriate skills and resources to make the farm safer.

The Future of the Family Farm More than steelworkers, miners, or high-tech innovators, family farmers represent America's ideals of Jeffersonian democracy, close-knit community and attachment to the land. It is little wonder, then, that the "save the family farm" movement has such an emotional appeal for Americans. DOCUMENTARY SECTIONS

Landmark Stewards Association
was born out of the success of the National Historic Landmark Stewards Congress held at the U.S. Military Academy, an NHL in West Point, New York, in November 1997. Sponsored by the National Historic Landmarks Program, Northeast Region, National Park Service, this forum brought together those interested in National Historic Landmarks and highlighted their common interests and needs. Stewards - the owners, managers and friends of private and public NHLs - worked together toward the formation of this new organization. The National Historic Landmark Stewards Association (NHLSA) held it premier meeting in Philadelphia in November 2000. The name of the organization emphasizes the role that owners and managers play as the caretakers of the nation's most significant properties. While there are numerous preservation organizations that advocate for and preserve historic properties, this is the first national organization made up of historic property owners and managers. These are the individuals who are directly responsible for the care of NHLs.
