Pathfinder: Biographies This pathfinder will help you find biographical information. It will describe important print and electronic information from the library and on the Internet. It will also provide instruction in how to use the books and web sites given below. Step #1: Understand the name of a person and know why they are famous. In many cultures, the family name is the most important name for finding information about that person. The family name is the last word of the name. For example, if you need information about Sally Ride, you would look for it under her family name, which is Ride. Famous people may be known by their title and "first" name. In those cases, look under their first name. For example, find information about Mother Teresa under "Teresa". Famous people may also be found in collections of famous people. For example, you may find information about a famous scientist in a book entitled “Prominent Women of the 20th Century”. Other categories are their field of work, gender, nationality or period in history.. Step #2: Find basic information from encyclopedias.
