The International Language Esperanto La Internacia Lingvo
Esperanto is a language that was developed in 1887 by Ludwik Zamenhof with the specific intent of creating an international second language. In 1905, Zamenhof published his Fundamento de Esperanto , which lays down the basic principles of the language's structure and formation. Esperanto is probably the most successful of the artificial international languages. The number of Esperanto speakers is estimated at more than 2 million. The Universala Esperanto-Asocio (founded in 1908) has members in 83 countries, and there are 50 national Esperanto associations that use Esperanto. There is an annual World Esperanto Congress, and over 100 periodicals are published in the language. More than 30,000 books have been published in Esperanto. Esperanto Course: Introduction
What is Esperanto?

Esperanto is a language, but not one like most other languages, it's an artificially constructed language. But this fact makes Esperanto even more interesting to learn. Esperanto was constructed at the end of the 19 th century by Ludwig L. Zamenhof from Poland. In his hometown there were serious problems caused by miscommunication, there were many people from many different countries and so many different languages were spoken, which caused confusion and racism. Zamenhof found a solution to this problem, during most years of his live he constructed the Esperanto language, an easy and logical language meant to become the international language, the language that people would speak when they couldn't speak eachother's language. The history of Esperanto
Why learn Esperanto?

As you have read, Esperanto is still alive, there are many books available and there are three million speakers worldwide. The language still can solve the problems it was designed for. So we'd like to encourage as many people as possible to learn this wonderful language. The language is extremely easy, but still very complete. And by learning Esperanto you can also learn to understand other languages better and easier, Esperanto forms a solid base. It breaks language barriers and it's a neutral language, not belonging to a nation, culture or religion. About this course
This course will teach you Esperanto in 21 lessons. All basic aspects will be covered and after finishing this course you'll already be able to speak quite some Esperanto! You'll even amaze yourself!

Prague Declaration on the movement for esperanto language, 1996.
    http://www.esperanto.se/dok/pragman_sw.html

Word: Word Starts with Ends with Definition Esperanto is the most widely spoken of the constructed languages An artificial or constructed language , colloquially conlang , is a language whose vocabulary and grammar were specifically devised by individual [or small groups of] humans, rather than having naturally evolved as part of a culture like a natural language. Some are designed for use in human communication, the same as natural languages, usually to function as an international auxiliary language, but others are created for use in fiction, linguistic experimentation, secrecy (codes), or simply for the sake of it. Conlangers differ on whether linguistic creation of the last kind is to be considered an art or a hobby. These are sometimes associated with conworlds.

Later he learned French, Latin, Greek, Hebrew and English, and he also had an interest in Italian, Spanish and Lithuanian.

Esperanto is the international language which was invented by Dr. L.L. Zamenhof, a Polish oculist, in 1887. Because of the beautiful simplicity of its grammar, and because of the enormously rich and varied range of lexical meanings which the language is able to build from a relatively small number of root words, Esperanto gained popularity quickly as an auxiliary language in all five continents. Estimates of exactly how many speakers the language has seem to vary considerably, but suffice it to say that the number of letters which Five Continents International Penfriends Club receives in Esperanto would be quite sufficient to make things rather difficult here if we did not happen to have a resident Esperantist on the premises! The following three programs will be of great value to most students in their first three years of learning the international language.

Every time the student keys in an ESPERANTO sentence identical with the model translation generated by the computer, it plays a few notes of music in acknowledgment. When the student's ESPERANTO differs from that of the computer, the programmed translation appears on screen for the student to make comparisons. Most students (young and old!) learn fast this way; and... is there any teacher of ESPERANTO who could NOT make good use of this program?

    THE PHRASEBASE APPROACH
Many studies show that in most countries, native-speakers only tend to use about unique words and phrases on a daily basis. The question then becomes... which words and phrases? Phrasebase answers this question.
In 1997, I was sent to Japan on an overseas assignment while working for a major software corporation. With a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, I was never required to take a single class in a language other than English. And having been raised in Middle America, I never had any exposure to foreign languages.
Yet, I found myself suddenly living and working in Tokyo, Japan, and confronted head on with a language barrier that hindered my most simple, routine and everyday activities.
Jeff Hock in Tokyo, Japan 1997 Seizing the challenge as an opportunity, I started carrying a notebook and pen everywhere I went. Each day when faced with the slightest problem trying to convey an idea or communicate a thought, I simply wrote it down.
Then right there on the spot, I entered the phrase and had a friend help me enter the corresponding Japanese equivalence. Without knowing it at the time, I was actually learning to write in

Today, thousands of people use it regularly to communicate with others around the world. See Esperanto as an international language According to a February 25 , , the Esperanto version of the Wikipedia had 11,000 articles, making it the tenth-largest .
