It aims to facilitate thought and discourse on how to strengthen environmental policymaking at the global scale and to advance the dialogue on the functions, structure, financing, and activities of the global environmental regime. Our work is based on the premise that there exist serious problems of failed collective action, institutional fragmentation, and deficient authority within the current global environmental governance architecture.

HELP CELP meet a matching gift challenge and pick a free gift! Washington State: Can a river run through it? Washington State is well-known for its scenic beauty, rich agriculture, and thriving industry. The human and natural resources of our state provide a quality of life second to none. Our state's rivers and streams are the lifeblood of cities, farms, fish and wildlife.
But for rivers to flow, water must be in them. In many places, Washington's freshwater supplies are overused, taken illegally, or wasted. Low river flows and depleted aquifers endanger fish and wildlife, threaten health and slow economic growth.
We can overcome threats to our rivers by bringing balance, accountability, sustainability, and efficiency to Washington's water supplies. CELP protects and restores the natural integrity of Washington's waters through agency oversight, policy research, litigation and education. We are a voice for the public interest in clean, flowing waters for Washington. To learn more about CELP, read our mission and our vision for the future
CELP is part of a new and unique partnership to promote efficient water use in Central Puget Sound. The Partnership for Water Conservation brings together business, water suppliers, and the environmental community to share diverse perspectives and promote a common vision.

FREE SUMMER LECTURE SERIES - click here Vermont Law School's Environmental Law Center offers one of the best environmental law and policy programs in the country. The mission of the 24-year-old Environmental Law Center is to educate for stewardship and an understanding of underlying environmental issues and values. Environmental law and policy are about change, and since change is often threatening to those who benefit from the status quo, it is no surprise that consensus on environmental issues is difficult to achieve. An environmental professional must understand that sound environmental policy is formed at the intersection of politics, law, science, economics, and ethics. In the Environmental Law program students explore the ethical basis for environmental policy, develop a knowledge of ecological concepts, and consider both international issues, and standards and processes embodied in U.S. environmental law. Students learn political, cultural, institutional, and scientific mechanisms which shape environmental policy, as well as recognize the role and effects of hazard, risk, and uncertainty in policy development. Transportation and Land Use Reform
Project Overview The way we get around affects everything around us. More people are driving further with more frequency, creating smog, ozone action days, and traffic congestion. All too often we try to build our way out of a jam with more roads, a one-way ticket to more problems. ELPC is working with other environmental organizations around the region to develop sustainable transportation systems that enhance, not entrap, life in our cities and rural areas. In Indiana we found that upgrading existing roadways, rather than building a new highway, would save taxpayers $600 million dollars and add only eight minutes driving time. In Illinois, a roadway was postponed because of inadequate environmental consideration a first for the state and a precedent-setting case for the region.

Welcome to West-Northwest
Hastings West-Northwest Journal of Environmental Law and Policy is the first regional environmental law journal covering California and the Pacific Northwest. By concentrating on this manageable geographical area, West-Northwest provides in-depth analysis of regionally specific environmental law issues. We also recognize that an on-going colloquy on the environment must synthesize the work of a broad range of academic and professional disciplines. Thus, in addition to traditional legal scholarship, West-Northwest publishes articles by policy analysts and researchers from such complementary fields as economics, anthropology, regional planning, engineering, and biological/earth sciences.

Our site-specific process allows us to screen your entire chemical inventory against 11 different environmental laws that may possibly affect your facility. We have developed a reliable system for screening all your chemicals on-site against current thresholds and requirements at the local, state and federal levels. Many environmental laws are based on specific chemical thresholds. Facilities that use, store or manufacture products using chemicals that exceed these limits are responsible for reporting the presence of these chemicals to the proper agencies. Failure to provide accurate reports in a timely manner often results in devastating enforcement penalties.
