Our volunteers work with people currently experiencing online harassment, and help others to learn how to avoid such harassment or minimize its impact if it does occur. Our president, Jayne Hitchcock , regularly speaks at various conferences and seminars, training law enforcement personnel and other interested parties. She also lobbies for better federal and state laws to deter cyberstalkers and give victims more options to stop harassment. Workers' Environmental Rights
Workers' environmental rights are fairly new in Canada. The few rights that have been set in law are workers' right to refuse to pollute, and workers' right to report workplace pollution. The right to refuse to pollute allows a worker to stop working when the work causes environmental damage. The right to report workplace pollution secures a worker from being fired for reporting environmental damage that originates in the workplace. Popularly known as "whistle blower protection", the right to report is found in environmental law in some provinces and territories, and in labour law elsewhere. Workers' right to refuse to pollute is found in Yukon's environmental law, and in federal environmental law that applies in the provinces and territories across the country. Workers' environmental rights are still developing. At present, it's not always clear how employers can be brought to respect these rights. Nor is it always clear when workplace pollution is at a level that makes it legal to report the employer, or legal for a worker to refuse to work.

NEETF's Education and Environment (K-12) programs strive to build a strong connection between environmental education and the formal K-12 education sectors. Recent research shows that schools using their built, natural and cultural environments as learning tools can significantly enhance academic achievement by giving a natural boost to learning. Schools also find the environment useful in after-school programs that reinforce academics and reduce violence and crime.
NEETF is working to find opportunities for environmental education in President Bush's new education plan, No Child Left Behind. This plan reauthorizes the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA), which provides the basis for most federal funding for the nation's schools. The passage of No Child Left Behind in 2001 has created numerous funding opportunities for environmental education programs.
NEETF has prepared No Subject Left Behind in the hopes of guiding local and state leaders and practitioners to some of the major sources of funding for environmental education programs. As additional EE opportunities come to light, NEETF will update No Subject Left Behind, which is intended to be a living document.

Welcome to the Department of
CIVIL AND ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING
Our mission is to provide students with a broad, fundamental and flexible educational program and to expand engineering knowledge through an active and exciting undergraduate and graduate research program. The department is dedicated to providing life-long development, instilling a sense of professional responsibility, and serving our society. We provide an environment that promotes teamwork and values integrity and honesty in all efforts. Civil and environmental engineering is an inherently interdisciplinary field. As such, students select groups of courses in one or more related application areas, such as computer science, applied mathematics, urban and regional planning, economics, chemistry and management. The civil and environmental engineering curriculum leads to the B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. To receive an accredited B.S. degree in civil engineering and environmental engineering, undergraduates enroll in courses in the three main thrust areas: structural analysis, design and reliability; transportation systems engineering and optimization; and, water resources and environmental engineering. Graduate students also pursue research in one of the three thrust areas to receive a M.S. or Ph.D. in civil engineering. Students who are interested in a general engineering degree with an emphasis in environmental engineering should visit the
