Search thousands of e-prints in scientific and technical disciplines A Deep Web distributed search across E-prints on Web Sites and/or Databases is accomplished with a single query that returns results from multiple sources. This search allows for compilation and assimilation of data to facilitate information discovery and reuse. Searching is limited to 10 selections; E-prints on Web Sites represents one selection. Multiple arXiv sites under one general heading are combined to represent one selection. Speed of returns is a function of the slowest database selected. See Collection Descriptions for assistance with selections. Check the collections to search E-prints on Web Sites

Green Buildings Introduction Also visit U.S. DOE's Building Technologies Program. The design, construction, and maintenance of buildings has a tremendous impact on our environment and our natural resources. There are more than 76 million residential buildings and nearly 5 million commercial buildings in the U.S. today. These buildings together use one-third of all the energy consumed in the U.S., and two-thirds of all electricity. By the year 2010, another 38 million buildings are expected to be constructed. The challenge will be to build them smart, so they use a minimum of nonrenewable energy, produce a minimum of pollution, and cost a minimum of energy dollars, while increasing the comfort, health, and safety of the people who live and work in them. Traditional building practices often overlook the interrelationships between a building, its components, its surroundings, and its occupants. "Typical" buildings consume more of our resources than necessary, negatively impact the environment, and generate a large amount of waste. According to Laurence Doxsey, former Coordinator of the City of Austin Green Builder Program, "a standard wood-framed home consumes over one acre of forest and the waste created during construction averages from 3 to 7 tons." Often, these buildings are costly to operate in terms of energy and water consumption. And they can result in poor indoor air quality, which can lead to health problems.

Climate Change Prediction Program (formerly CHAMMP)
The Climate Change Prediction Program (formerly CHAMMP ) program is a Department of Energy program to rapidly advance the science of decade and longer scale climate prediction. A major component of the CHAMMP program links the emerging technologies in High Performance Computing to the development of computationally efficient and numerically accurate climate prediction models. Sponsored by the Office of Biological and Environmental Research (OBER) , the program involves a joint laboratory-university effort to develop computational methods and simulation capabilities for future atmosphere and ocean general circulation models. These computer programs will form the core of advanced prediction models that can be used to study climate change. Projects are classed in two groups, Science Team and Development Team projects. The Development Teams are charged with implementing particular state-of-the-art atmosphere and ocean general circulation models (and coupled models) on high performance parallel computers. The development teams have contributed to several coupled model projects through interagency collaborations with the focus on studying the utility of high resolution, eddy resolving ocean models for the coupled climate system. The image on the header is sea surface temperature output from an eddy resolving ocean model (the POP code) generated on a massively parallel computer at Los Alamos National Laboratory. This server supports the collaboration of CCPP researchers. The server supports the exchange of
