As part of the agency’s responsibilities to regulate the offshore oil and gas industry, the Technology Assessment and Research Program MMS Wraps Up Series of Public Meetings on Pipeline Authority MMS Officials Marty Grieshaber and George Triebsch during public meeting on a proposed rulemaking dealing with pipeline authority. The MMS wrapped up the last of three public meetings in its effort to gather public comments on potential new authority to ensure open and non-discriminatory access to oil and gas pipelines. MMS held meetings in Houston and Washington, D.C., with the final meeting in New Orleans May 14. A recent court order determined that the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission did not have authority to require data submittals for certain natural gas pipelines on the Outer Continental Shelf and indicated the Interior Department may be the most appropriate Federal regulator.
