The Catalog was developed to provide detailed information on each of the 132 residency programs approved by the Residency Review Committee of Emergency Medicine. The number of approved residency programs have increased dramatically. In 1970 there was one program. In 1975 there was 18. In 1980 there was 43. In 1985 there was 63. In 1990 there was 81. In 1995 there was 108 and in 2000 there was 122. The 132 emergency medicine residency programs are structured in three different formats: 1-4 programs: There are 16 of these four year programs.
