(unless other stated) Purpose T his Web site is dedicated to the wonderful realm of electronic music and intends to inform about artists of electronic music (e-m) and e-m in general. This is done either by linking to distant sites or -and that's what I am trying to set up- by providing own texts. If you would like to know what electronic music the way I understand is have a look at this site's FAQ , please. Since it is my purpose to inform the interested people about the artists I am trying to provide an index that is as complete as possible. If possible, the artists portraits that I created contain a complete listing of all works done so far.
FAQ T here are always some questions left to a site. Here you will get first aid: the "obligatory" collection of frequently asked questions (FAQ) about this site. Visit the FAQ
Link to this Web site I f you think this is a good site and if you would like to support electronic music then feel free to link to my Web site. Have a look at the FAQ to get to know how to get a logo with an appropriate link. Thank you!

  • The strange triumph of electronic music It may not be on the radio, but it's the most influential and unifying force in pop music today. By Andrew John Ignatius Vontz In 1997, at the height of the so-called big beat invasion, I walked into a Foot Locker store in Beverly Hills to buy a new pair of shoes. I may have been looking for some Air Max 95s. At some point, house music came thundering over the in-store sound system and strobes began to flash. I dropped whatever sneaker I was holding and waited for smoke to billow into the room while everyone pumped their fists in the air and danced. Instead, everyone kept shopping.

INTERVIEWS AND ESSAYS BY JASON GROSS (April 2000) The end result is OHM- The Early Gurus of Electronic Music on Ellipsis Arts (available April 24th). Along with Thomas and the Ellipsis crew, we worked long and hard to contact all of the living composers to get quotes about their pieces as well as find archival essays and photos to go along with comments from artists influenced by these composers. Gruelling as it was, I hope that the end result will be worthwhile to anyone with an interest in electronic music. I myself learned a lot from the experience and found myself with a treasure trove of material that we were not able to include in the accompanying booklet. Rather than let this historic material gather dust in my drawers, I thought I'd like to share this important material with the online world. As with OHM , I hope that this will become an invitation to you to explore more of this rich and astounding field. Each history comes with past history and that applies to the Studio for Electronic Music in Cologne
as well. The following facts are part of the past history to the same degree: - the musical development in the first half of the 20th century
    - the history of mechanical instruments to the development of the "electric" or "electronic"
instruments in the thirties (there always has been an argument regarding the terminology, similar to
arguments about the expression "electronic music")
    - the fact that magnetic sound storing only came into existence in the early fifties
    - the work, the following people did prior to 1951, those people are of enormous importance to the
start or development of electronic music: Robert Beyer, Herbert Eimert and Werner Meyer-Eppler. Robert Beyer, born 1901 in Wittlich, studied at the universities of Halle and Berlin

Full of fascinating ideas about Tudor's performance style, diagrams of some of the beautiful "scores", and a lovely, lovely page of the wonderful tangles of electronics he and his collaborators have used. The story about setting the house speakers afire was particularly fun. http://www.emf.org/tudor/ /composers permanent link Thu, 29 Apr 2004 Futuresonic 04 Festival
Now ongoing in Manchester - Things started up on the 27th, but will keep on going until May 8th, I wish I'd gotten this up a little earlier. See www.futuresonic.com for more details. It looks like there'll be some very interesting live events and performers. Joe Zawinul (!); Philip Jeck, whose primary instrument is the Dansette turntable; a virtual sound environment in Cathedral gardens; DJs with Theremins, Kaoss pads, and laser harps; free audio and DJ workshops and talks. i Wow. Wish I could be there.
