DUCADE provides both domain designers with an environment they can use to identify, constrain, and track feature couplings for a product throughout the life cycle of the design. The system has its foundations based in relational theory with the sole purpose of exploiting the ability to quickly create relationships between two dissimiliar entities (mechanical and electrical). The back-end of the system relies on a relational database (Oracle8i) for housing and querying all information. To begin using the system, you need to create a username and password. To create a username and password click on the tab titled "Create User" . If you already have a username then proceed to logging onto the system by clicking on the "Logon" tab.

In the subfield of electronics , electrical engineers design and test electrical networks (more commonly known as circuits ) that take advantage of electromagnetic properties of electrical components or elements (such as resistors capacitors inductors transistors ... semiconductors ) to achieve the desired functionality. Before the invention of the integrated circuit , electronic circuits were constructed purely from discrete components. These circuits consumed much space and electrical power, were more prone to failure, and were limited in speed. The integrated circuit packs large numbers of electrical components, mainly transistors, into a small space, contributing to the ubiquitous use of electronic devices today. In designing an integrated circuit, electrical engineers first construct circuit schematics (drawings) that specify electrical components and describe interconnections among the electrical components. When the schematics are deemed good, electrical engineers convert the schematics into actual layouts, which literally map out layers of various conductor and semiconductor materials (such as

STUDENT GUIDE TO CAREERS IN ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING
Electrical Engineering is an extremely diverse field, covering everything from lasers and wireless communication systems to microchips, computers, and consumer electronics. Electrical Engineering plays a major role in medical, military, entertainment and space technologies. It is impossible for an engineer to have an in-depth understanding of all of these applications. Therefore, engineers must focus their studies in some way. Electrical Engineering (EE) can be divided into four general areas. The EE courses have been organized into tracks that correspond to these areas: Even though students are not required to take courses exclusively from one track, the tracks act as guidelines for selecting classes. Choosing courses within the same track will allow students to focus their studies in a desired direction. The following information is provided in this packet as an overview for each track:
    • Description of the field
    • Applications
    • Career opportunities and companies
    • Research at the University of Utah
    • Important skills
The information provided is a starting point for further individual research. More information may be obtained through the links provided, by talking to professors in each area, by talking to engineers in the field, and through other means. This will help students choose courses that are relevant to their interests, preparing them for successful careers in electrical engineering.

    http://philip.greenspun.com/humor/eecs-difference-explained
    Electrical Engineering vs. Computer Science
Once upon a time, in a kingdom not far from here, a king summoned two of his advisors for a test. He showed them both a shiny metal box with two slots in the top, a control knob, and a lever. "What do you think this is?" One advisor, an engineer, answered first. "It is a toaster," he said. The king asked, "How would you design an embedded computer for it?" The engineer replied, "Using a four-bit microcontroller, I would write a simple program that reads the darkness knob and quantizes its position to one of 16 shades of darkness, from snow white to coal black. The program would use that darkness level as the index to a 16-element table of initial timer values. Then it would turn on the heating elements and start the timer with the initial value selected from the table. At the end of the time delay, it would turn off the heat and pop up the toast. Come back next week, and I'll show you a working prototype."
The second advisor, a computer scientist, immediately recognized the danger of such short-sighted thinking. He said, "Toasters don't just turn bread into toast, they are also used to warm frozen waffles. What you see before you is really a breakfast food cooker. As the subjects of your kingdom become more sophisticated, they will demand more capabilities. They will need a breakfast food cooker that can also cook sausage, fry bacon, and make scrambled eggs. A toaster that only makes toast will soon be obsolete. If we don't look to the future, we will have to completely redesign the toaster in just a few years."
