The Official Electrical Engineer Webpage Real Ultimate Power Hi, this site is all about EEs REAL EEs .  This site is awesome.    My name is Robert and I can't stop thinking about EEs .  These guys are cool; and by cool, I mean totally sweet. Facts: EEs are mammals. EEs solve equations ALL the time. 3.    The purpose of the EE is to flip out and write matlab code. Weapons and gear: HP-48G              Matlab    EE Outfit Testimonial: EEs can calculate anything they want!  EEs calculate ALL the time and don't even think twice about it.  These guys are so crazy and awesome that they flip out ALL the time.  I heard that there was this EE who was eating at a diner.  And when some dude forgot the convolution integral the EE killed the whole town.  My friend Mark said that he saw an EE totally uppercut some kid just because the kid said imaginary numbers suck. And that's what I call REAL Ultimate Power If you don't believe that EEs have REAL Ultimate Power you better get a life right now or they will chop your head off!!!  It's an easy choice, if you ask me.   EEs are sooooooooooo sweet that I want to crap my pants.  I can't believe it sometimes, but I feel it inside my heart.  These guys are totally awesome and that's a fact.  EEs are fast, smooth, cool, strong, powerful, and sweet.  I can't wait to start DTS next year.  I love EEs with all of my body (including my pee pee).

The requirements for Model Railroad Engineer - Electrical may look long and complicated, but they are not really. The reason that they are so long is to offer you more options for meeting the requirements. You don't even have to do all of the work on a single layout - you can do some on a club layout, some in your basement, and some on your garden railroad, etc. Remember - don't make the requirements more difficult than they are, by reading more into them than is there. To qualify for the Model Railroad Engineer - Electrical certificate, you must:
    A. Construct and demonstrate on own or club layout, the satisfactory operation of an electrical control system on a model railroad capable of simultaneous and independent control of two mainline trains in either direction, and containing at least:

Nature of the Work About this section Back to Top From the global positioning system that can continuously provide the location of a vehicle to giant electric power generators, electrical and electronics engineers are responsible for a wide range of technologies. Electrical and electronics engineers design, develop, test, and supervise the manufacture of electrical and electronic equipment. Some of this equipment includes broadcast and communications systems; electric motors, machinery controls, lighting, and wiring in buildings, automobiles, aircraft, and radar and navigation systems; and power generating, controlling, and transmission devices used by electric utilities. Many electrical and electronics engineers also work in areas closely related to computers. However, engineers whose work is related exclusively to computer hardware are considered computer hardware engineers , another engineering specialty covered elsewhere in the Handbook.

Significant Points
  • Electrical and electronic engineering technicians make up 42 percent of all engineering technicians.
  • Because the type and quality of training programs vary considerably, prospective students should carefully investigate training programs before enrolling.
  • Opportunities will be best for individuals with an associate degree or extensive job training in engineering technology.
Nature of the Work About this section Back to Top Handbook section on installation, maintenance, and repair occupations. Engineering technicians who work in research and development build or set up equipment, prepare and conduct experiments, collect data, calculate or record results, and help engineers or scientists in other ways, such as making prototype versions of newly designed equipment. They also assist in design work, often using computer-aided design (CAD) equipment. Most engineering technicians specialize in certain areas, learning skills and working in the same disciplines as engineers. Occupational titles, therefore, tend to reflect those of engineers.

Interview with Electrical Engineer Scharmin Dorostkar Scharmin Dorostkar works as an engineer at a company that manufactures data storage and backup devices for computer networks. She specialized in digital signal processing and information theory in graduate school at The University of Colorado, Boulder. She lives in Boulder with her husband and two children. Job Description: Scharmin designs specialized computer logic circuits that reduce errors that occur when data is read back from computer storage devices, such as magnetic tape disks. As Scharmin explains, "When the signal comes off tape, it is passed through logic circuits, the electronic circuits that actually restore the original signal, and I design those kinds of circuits." We asked Scharmin to tell us about her experience as an engineer. Here are her responses: NF: How did you become interested in engineering?
