The Front, as it is known, won control of 80 municipal councils - 25 more than in 1997 - including 12 in coalition with other parties. The FMLN took seven of the 14 largest cities in the country in addition to 12 of the 19 municipios las rebuscas , vendors hawking items for day-to-day survival, have set up shop on the pavements. Salesmen and dealers offer clothes, appliances, beer, coche bomba rebusca rebuscas and their pavement-blocking wares would be removed, especially since the underground sector tends to vote FMLN. "It amounted to an attack on their own voters," says one businessman. rebuscas who refuse to relocate for fear of losing customers, although local officials are prepared to use force if current talks fail.
